My mom, again... "you should get yourself some sandals, your feet are going to boil in these shoes!" While I was telling her that I have flat feet and need inside soles to correct my posture.
Again, she didn't believe me. Again, I had to show her.
I bought a cheap pair of sandals, and went to work (we worked at the same place for a short while). I looked at her without saying a thing. My shoulders weren't at the same height, neither were my hips, my head was to the side and my back made a sort of "S".
Was in pain all day, but for the look on her face: WORTH IT!
Stop trying to force people to do things, especially when it's medical! We know what we're doing for food's sake ><

My dad constantly tells me to stop eating bread or grain when I said I have some red dimples on both my arms (I think they're made from my shirts rubbing my arms) or when I say anything, damn that bread brain book

When I was in highschool, I had to go to a meeting with a carreer counselor and she told me that because i have ADD and was having trouble with certain acedemics, that I should just not even bother going to college and get a dead end job somewhere.

I just graduated from college in December.

Aside from the usual "you just need to calm down and the anxiety goes away", wow thanks I'm cured, my dad once told me I was perfectly fit to teach art to special needs children because I have Aspergers and we "identify with each other"

1. I don't have Aspergers. My parents tried to internet-diagnose me and my psychologist told them to cut it out several times. I don't even have half the syndroms.
2. The special needs class was known to have violent children and I'd have at the most an intern as support. I've never given classes before because that's not my grad, or have any pedagogic knowledge to you know not get stabbed with school tools.
3. I wasn't about to do all that for less salary than a secretary, five days a week+out of school preparation.

I'm very clear that they shouldn't even try to advise me on mental health issues ever since. That said, I hope that place found someone capable; they were extremely desperate to get anyone to cover for those times or they'd have to send the kids home which isn't always possible.

When coming out to an acquaintance as a DID (dissociative identity) system he actually, literally said to me...

"So, have you ever just considered... NOT being 18 different people... because right now... you don't actually have a real personality... if you tried being one person... I would like you more..."

Like who cares if you like me or not... I can't just "decide" to not have a serious disability anymore... As if I'm having amnesia and dissociation and constant splitting my choice... What an idiot...

Needless to say we didn't end up being friends because he said some really really gross stuff later on about some other marginalised groups as well... He later said that he "didn't believe in asexuals" and I was like wow ew...

My teacher watched some research, which suggests that we can cure many serious illness like cancer and etc with positive mindset.
So I have a skin illness that I had from when I was 1 y/o. And one day I wasn't feeling well because of that and went home. And the next day, my teacher started lecture me that I have this skin illness because I am stressed out all the times and not positive enough, she also wanted to send me to a psychologist because of that.
Needless to say, I ended up being so pissed at her

There are skin illnesses that are caused by stress, that's true, but they aren't going to show up since you were small, that's just silly. And even then, telling the person to stop being stressed in the case of those illnesses is a great way to make it worse, instead of just handing them the cream to decrease the itching and/or pain.

Yep, if the person wants to share their 'knowledge' on the negative impact of stress on diseases, they should be way, way more cautious. Maybe ask something like 'did you ever notice an effect of stress on your condition?' That can be productive.

That's a problem I see all the time: people trying to use legitimate, but vague and not super significant (as a whole) medical facts to back up their beliefs, ignoring totally all the way more significant medical facts that also apply in the situation. Most are not even realizing (ie it's not necessarily manipulation), it's just ignorance. Time to teach the scientific method WAY earlier in school.

Edit: in the case of the documentary your teacher watched, it is likely manipulation, though. Some of these are borderline criminal).

I agree that her intentions were good, even if the way she tried to show them to me weren't.

However I think the wrong medical advice wasn't what really annoyed me (once I told my doctor that I have trouble riding in a car/bus for more than one hour since I usually end up throwing up multiple times, his advice was "you need to go and ride on a bus so your body can get used to it and stop throwing up"... I am pretty sure this isn't an advice a doctor should give, but )
I think what actually irritated me more than the wrong advice was the fact the my skin disease doesn't actually show on my face/hands etc, and it is something that I don't go explaining to everyone (so they just know I have problems, but they don't know the problems), so she didn't even know from what I suffered/how long/etc, and the only reason she knew about it is because I don't go to PE because of it (and the fact that I went home a day earlier because of it).
So what happened, is that she gave me that advice on my illness, when she knew nothing about it, without asking me first about it...

And maybe I am a little bit childish about it, but it annoyed me so much hearing her talking about it without even knowing anything about it (and she is also one of those people, that if they think they are right you can't convince them otherwise and they won't listen to you), and it just came to me as a rude thing for me
