Emotional support, stress, and encouragement

So Im making this thread because I had a bit of an emotional breakdown today. Not sure why. I guess my day job had been a pain in the butt lately and I'm currently thinking about what ill be doing in a few months when deciding to see if ill switch to full time while still updating my comic regularly. I love working on my comic but at the same time life gets in the way. And yes, I'm aware this what we all have to deal with in life at artists, but today I just broke.

Don't worry, I'll be okay though.
I'm not too stressed to keep the comic going. (That actually makes me feel better) Just felt a bit sad and lost today.

I just want to see if anyone wants to talk about anything their stressing with, and give some encouraging words and advice.

We've been quarantined since last March.
There is no WAY anyone can tell us on this whole f**king planet, that they are "doing okay".
We're not okay, well, not yet.
We both get our second vaccines next week, and then two weeks after that, we can go out again, eat, watch movies, and enjoy the coming summer to its fullest - wearing masks of course.
A lot of people are depressed and actually we should applaud ourselves for not mass-suiciding.

So kudos, Earthlings, for not giving up and mass-suiciding!

Coming from someone who went from a full-time day-job to part-time so I could focus more on my creative pursuits, I will never work full-time outside of art ever again. Life's not about money. I'm happy earning enough to cover the basics, if that's going to provide me with the time to satisfy my creative drive and, in so doing, keep me happy.

Just keep doing the stuff which satisfies you. That's the key, for me at least.

Well, I hope things look up for you. It's no fun to be stressed out and have a job that stinks. I'm about 9 months out from my old job which was like that.

Right now, I'm stressing with the big "what next". I still trying to figure out my next step for my series. I still love writing the stories but what comes after that. Sci-fi is a hard genre for web fiction so it's really hard to make a name for myself.

I had like a very similar breakdown earlier this week when i did not get a job that i assumed was a sure thing. I think its important to allow yourself space to feel upset. Coping skills are great but sometimes you just need to feel like shit for a while. maybe its just me

I hope you all find some stability in your life to start to feel better.

in my case, it has nothing to do with work, but my mental (and general) health is just taking a steep decline and the therapist wants me on meds, but meds make me want to stop drawing its a bit of a conundrum I feel like I have to choose one or the other.

If you don't feel like meds are the best solution for you right now, don't take them. I had a therapist constantly push them and it didn't feel right to me. When I was on meds, I got dangerously dizzy. Instead, I focused on other types of therapy to bring myself to stasis. I know it doesn't work for everybody but diet and exercise did wonders helping my body to relax and in turn, my mind.

I'm glad you're not feeling as bad as you could be. Life's been hard lately. I'm struggling a lot with uni since I'm a senior grad student about to graduate in a few months, but there are so many papers and reports to write I can barely live, let alone be creative. I'm trying to find the inspiration to write and draw in between meltdowns but it's as hard as you can imagine. Hopefully I'll be able to schedule an appointment for the psychiatrist today, so I'll finally be able to change meds and get some quality anxiety free time.
