End of the Year Wrap!

YOU MADE IT TO THE END OF THE YEARRRR

Now! New Year's resolutions are all well and good, but let's pause and think about the things we're most proud of and/or grateful for our art in the past year!

Me?
I took the initiative this year and got myself doctor's appoints and ended up in physical therapy because it was impossible to write/draw/bake cookies/ect. I'm definitely not back to where I was pre-car accident, but I am slowly getting there. I've done 6 pieces of art that otherwise I might not have. 6 isn't a lot for the whole entire year, but considering where I started, it's a mountain climbed! HUZZAAHHHH

So! What did you accomplish this past year that you're going to ride that high straight into the year of the pig?!

So I'm proud I learned to cure meats this year.

I'm glad we got lil boy tested and now he's getting the help he needs.

Hubby's art has been getting better and better.

And hubby and I are most proud of getting off our butts and starting our comic!

I'm proud of finding the courage to apply to a different art school for a design program, despite being in my 5th semester and almost 24 years old

and I'm grateful for my amazing teacher who took a lot of time to talk to a crying me to encourage me to take this step

a lot has changed for me this year and the change will HOPEFULLY continue next year!

also I finally started making my comic Drop in the Ocean. I was sick of waiting to be "good enough" and the support i've received so far has been heart warming

next year will be also my fist covention table and me working on a physical comic on the side! ahh I'm so excited for what's to come!

I started publishing my first comic ever, which helped me improve my art and learn new things about drawing.

I've taken small steps in learning how to cook better. I make killer french toast now.

I've finally decided on immunotherapy for my pollen allergy. I don't know how it worked yet for obvious reasons, but we'll see. At least it's going smoothly, without any health complications. xD

2017 was the worst year of my life, but it inspired the explosion of creativity that 2018 has been. This year, I:

• Left a job at a wonderful employer because, unfortunately, intensive work that isn't creative work exacerbates my madness.
• Learned a new language: Dutch. I'm not confident speaking with native speakers, but I can carry a conversation.
• Spent a month in the land of the Dutch, the Netherlands, marking my first international excursion.
• Moved to Los Angeles, where American writers go to find success.
• Wrote 2 feature screenplays, 3 TV pilot screenplays, and 2 short scripts in one month.
• Wrote another feature, another pilot, and another short.
• Broke 100 subscribers on a single story (Call Me Mara).
• Brought Call Me Mara to an immensely satisfying conclusion in Episode 50 (though Mara's tale is not yet done ).
• Initiated outlining and planning for seven more features (a psychosexual thriller, a Star Wars ripoff, a Man of Steel-style Christ story, and four Dragon Ball films), a video game (Superman), and an anti-authoritarian tale for the kids.
• Went from 15 to 589 followers on Twitter (at the time of this writing).
• Secured paying copyediting and ghostwriting gigs.
• Wrote a number of periodicals and poems on Medium.
• Managed to get a Medium publication to publish one of my articles.

2017 was the worst year of my life, but in terms of writing, 2018 has been my most productive by a ridiculous margin. This is me making up for lost time; I should have been doing this years ago. I'm happy that I'm finally doing everything I can to live up to my potential, and I hope to be writing as prolifically as this until my dying day.

This year, I've built the foundation. 2019 is my starting line: I will be telling stories for a living by the end of this year. This is the best legacy I can leave for the world and the greatest gift the world can give me.

This year I:

• Have extended my professional experience as a programmer for the several months. ᕦ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)ᕤ
• Have passed the incredibly hard test for the prestige internship to attend in the next year (OMG still can't believe in it). (╯°□°)╯
• Have been abroad for the first time in life (๑•̀ㅂ•́)ง✧
• Have stabilized the health condition... more or less ┌(◉ ͜ʖ◉)つ┣▇▇▇═──
• Started to write the math paper... finally (^-^)/
• Started to draw the comics (obviously) ᕕ(⌐■_■)ᕗ ♪♬

I started drawing my comic at the beginning of the year, started releasing it in August, and by the end of November I had a years worth of buffer.
I also created two T shirts for a band and started doing more design on the side for other music related clients.

YEAH! The end of the year is here! And that's another year of college I can scratch off the list with flying colors! Oh, and getting in some cool novel stories created for Tapas.

Then there was when I completed a Guest Comic strip for someone I watch here on Tapas.

I haven't done much of other artworks done due to schoolwork, but I'm proud of the stuff I did create and put my heart into. Boy, I tell you, schoolwork can be quite a drag once it all starts burying you down.

A LOT of stuff has happened left and right to no end.... but I survived through it all.

I finally started getting a little more active in sharing my works. I created a Ko-Fi so friends, and fans (and maybe someone who wants commissions) can donate or tip me for all my hard work.

I finally have Ink Support, so that's something! Especially during Inksgiving!

Completing and beating video games old and new in my collection that I've had sitting on, or had trouble with for a long time.

Hearing the news of some of my favorite works getting the remasters, sequels, continuations, conclusions they deserve.

Genuinely enjoying movies like The Incredibles 2, and Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse. One giving me the classic kind of action story AND being the return of a superhero family I haven't seen in a long time, and the other being an amazing super hero movie featuring one of my favorite heroes ever and encompassing everything about him from all my years as a fan of the character and the entire mythos and movies.

Happily spending another year living.

Slowly accepting some recent endeavors that will just... never change. cue the song "That's just the way it is~"

Celebrating and enjoying every little achievement or moment I have with certain folks in my life.

And finally.... having a wonderful Christmas with my family.

2018, this year, had some seriously straining bumps in the road, and there's been times (even now) where I just wanna give up. But I've made it this far, and I'll keep going until its the end. Here's to 2019, and hopefully (I'm prayin' at least) it will be at least a tad bit better.

Not even kidding here I learned to type consistently without using my dictation software. It was becoming a crutch I basically never wrote or typed just dictation software and a lot of skill with using it.

I wrote and edited my first video, it's kinda shit but the next one is coming out and it's waaaaaaay better already

I got a girlfriend and feel like my life is heading somewhere

I read 100 books this year not a lot but I tried to read mostly short books buyt with lots of content

This year was as bad as every year but that also means it was as good as every year hopefully next year will be good too and I can try and make it better and I hope you all do too. Read something, go somewhere, see someone just work hard to be happy.... Also take up running if you can you'll be surprised how much you can create when your mind is focused on your lungs not dying no joke
