There is a new hosting site called Becomics (it literally opened less than two months ago) that I've been trying out and I'm really enjoying! While it doesn't offer a forum and it is still a bit in the works, the fun and best part is that (if you wish) you can "animate" your comic by using transitions from one panel to another - or simply from a selection of your page to another. Check out what I did for The Green-Eyed Sniper and let me know what you think!

Would you give Becomics a try? If not, what is it that doesn't do it for you?

It works just like the Comixology "Guided View" technology. It's really nice to see it free for anyone to use!

Hmmmm looks interesting. I don't know if I'll be using it though, I'd have to take it under heavy consideration. I clicked on one comic and it was taking forever to load until I turned the fancy stuff off, so that's a little bit of a concern, but I suppose people using that site in particular the users would be used to that so if I do end up uploading there too it'll just be a mirror for me. The fact that is IS on the newer end is appealing, though. The chances of getting noticed even without a forum would be a bit higher and more visibility could potentially mean patreon subscribers. I DUNNO. On the fence, but not giving it a pass. I've been thinking of using webtoon as well so maybe I'll set up shop on both at the same time after my vacation next week and kinda gauge how effective they feel.

It looks promising, but tbh, I'm not a big fan of the viewer. It can be realy distracting when reading - and yes, it does take some time to load. And in my opinion, a comic should be fun to read because of the content - animations, fade-ins etc are just fancy extras.
And it doesn't work for every comic format (though I must say, it works well with the thoughts coming after another in your comic @infectedbloodcomics!)

In general it seems like you have to click a lot when reading - which is a bit annoying for me. And the viewing window/content area seems really small? Because of this, it lacks the "modern" feel for me :/

But nevertheless, if you have the time to mirror on this site, I wouldn't discourage anyone from doing it - especially since it's still young and not many people are there --> more exposure and less risk to being buried under thousands of submissions.

@dojo @zerofruits Loading time on my PC is minimal, but that's because I have a fast connection. This is something they should definitely fix, though. However, here's some info I didn't previously convey: the creator can choose to let the reader pick his/her viewing experience. So, if a reader doesn't want to go through the animations, that option is available (once again, as long as the creator allows that), and s/he will be able to read the comic one page at the time, just like you can do on all other hosting sites.

Another important point is the clicking: I agree that it can be too much to some (many?) people. Well, there is also the option for the creator to avoid user input and just add a time to each transition: this way, the reader wouldn't have to click at all. Personally, I like to read at my own pace, so I preferred to let the reader click. However, understanding that it can be way too much, I am splitting my pages in chunks of 5 at the time (except for part 1, which has all 10 pages up together). This way, old readers won't have to click for too long. As for new readers... I figured they would read more slowly.

Except I do have a fast connection, yet loading times are still sluggish. I do tend to have other things running while browsing the internet, though, which I imagine could be part of the issue, but considering I don't have this issue with most websites it remains a concern for me. So yeah, they should definitely look into that.

Your comic looks great in this platform. Tho honestly, the transition and the sequence looks great but I think this platform is mostly for mobile.
The panels get zoomed in a lot so it might be better to upload bigger pages. Scroll comics doesn't look that good either? idk.

I tried reading comics on my phone and it was kind of hard to me. I actually thought that reading them on PC was better Funny how interpretations/experiences vary.

Hi all,

I'm Michael, one of the founders of Becomics. How amazing it is to find this thread!

More wonderful yet is to get some great feedback from all of you.

As @infectedbloodcomics mentioned, we are very young. We launched less than two months ago and many things are still not working as we ideally want them to, but we are constantly working on bringing everything to where it needs to be.

We are still working on fixing some bugs, while we are also working on integrating some new features (vertical viewer like Tapastic, and also a horizontal one as well).

It takes a lot of work but we are all very excited about doing this and contributing something to the webcomic community. As you might have noticed, the site is totally free both for artists and readers, and there aren't even ads. It's just our way to give back to the community which we love so much!

One thing that some of you find interesting is that our viewer can be embedded in personal websites and blogs, so you can use our platform and showcase the results on your own websites. Just check out the "Share" option in the viewer.

There's nothing to lose by adding your comics to another platform. It is actually quite a short process, you just drag and drop the pages, and they are ready to be viewed. At a later time, if you wish you could add transitions and animations. Can't hurt!

Anyone know anything about Becomics?

My own experience is very limited. I joined but just haven't gotten around to posting my comic on there yet. I did get a very friendly e-mail (which I feel terrible for not responding to yet ahaha) asking what I thought about it and saying they are looking forward to seeing my comic up there. If nothing else, they certainly do seem very friendly!
I still want to put my comic up there eventually, I just personally have higher priorities at the moment.
