Agree! We tried hard, that's a fact. Why should we act embarassed? It seems our culture not much different. In my place, saying what you've accomplished considered as a prideful (in a bad way, like being narcissist). Everyone should have their head low, under the term being modest and humble. Is it humble and modest to not acknowledge our effort? I don't think so.
And to make it worse, when we tried to stay humble and modest after our effort, they thought we're having some privilege (like born as smart in my case). If I said I did more than them, they'd pass it as me mocking them or saying they don't do their work.
People need to appreciate each other more. Life's already hard as it is, why not spread more love rather than hate?
