on that note, i am almost positive the vast majority of the readers are way below the age of 18 (._.
even when it's not about shipping, the way they express their thoughts, coupled with shaky grammar and spelling... they all seem like a very young audience.
the only exceptions that i've noticed are readers migrating from other platforms to support their fav creators (and it seems they have a placeholder username like Visitor1234)
but honestly, a platform can't really do anything about their readerbase, lol.
Also, i personally believe while there is actually a huge readerbase in WebComic (see all the chinese/korean comics) the numbers for newcomers are largely artificial. i noticed before they put my comic up, it appeared (by mistake?) on one of the categories below first, which you'd need to scroll a bit to find. When i went there, it already had about ~7K subs and a handful of real comments. And it was there for only an hour or so. Then it was relocated correctly to the top newly released ones. And "started gaining subs" again. Except this time i got a bunch more comments than the handful it had an hour before.
For what it's worth, if anything, you'll get good exposure out of this as a non-exclusive creator. You literally got nothing to lose and can pull out whenever you want (or ask for a hiatus ahead of time) and if you go exclusive, you'll definitely get paid regardless of your stats (although be mindful of @seru 's headsup before deciding if you wanna go exclusive or stay non-exclusive)
