I usually don’t really have any existing species in my stories so I make up some new ones. That said, Hafella here is inspired by a Norwegian Huldra Which is a forest-dwelling creature with malicious intent that also has a cow tail. And that’s basically Hafella’s character description.
How strict is the definition of “mermaid” here? Any limit on how many eyes and legs they can have? Uh, asking for a friend..
I've never heard of that creature before.
no limit on eyes or legs, or minimum number either. just a sea dwelling sentient species I guess?
That’s what makes it so interesting to me. I love creatures no one has ever heard of
Oops, forgot (spoiler warning for readers of "Crystal Blue.")Fairy Boy:
Fairy Momma:
Not a bad looking 76 year old lol.
Also remiquise drew this awesome picture of Christopher George and Mora together. I love it so much!
Here's a funky looking fairy with serrated wings that I drew in my comic "Mental Soup"
In the modern day world Hiro Hinmoku wears a necklace that holds a fantasy mimic that can create a superhero suit around her body. She fights goblins in the first chapter.
Is she a mermaid or is she not? I still won't tell. but my MC Mora (who IS a mermaid) thinks she's probably a mermaid
Here comes my officially most ancient OC:Meet Frida the Lilac Princess. I came up with her when I was about 7 years old and it was her story that got me into writing. I still hope to get it out there one day, but as a novel, not a comic. She’s a half dragon! She has 3 brothers who are all more human looking, she really comes after her mother…
It's interesting that her genes would make her dragon-looking in everything but her hair and half her face lol. Oh, and part of her hands. TBH, most of my dragons either look full 'human' or fully 'dragon', though their human forms still have notable traits that make them look like dragons to everyone who knows dragons, just like many ethnicities have common traits/features
Tbh I still haven’t quite figured out how dragon genes work in this world, since they are evidently able to conceive children with humans. Though the human would mostly not notice that it’s a dragon in the first place, because dragons are able to create very powerful illusions that make them almost undetectable amongst humans. (Frida’s only half dragon so she can’t.) Her mother actually got into a medieval church that way when she married Frida’s father and no one noticed.Though there is still the possibility that something went seriously wrong when Frida was born, because that was when her father noticed that his wife was actually a fricken dragon, and also he told his sons that their mother died while giving birth to her, so there’s that.Wow I sound so uncertain when I talk about this story probably because I already wrote 3 versions of it and want to rewrite it again…
did her mother not die?
As for genetics, I have several stories with dragons and the physiology works differently every time, lore is one of my favorite parts. just have fun with it, i say.
There are like 3 different rumors about what happened to her mother, so telling if she died or not would be a gigantic spoiler. It’s also very important for why her oldest brother went out to hunt her. (Okay, this is kind of a giant spoiler already, since the story is from his POV lol)
This is a drawing of my OC Therese George made by @feuersichel

Is a cervitaur A deer centaur?
YesI cannot find if there any mythology sources for it (not cernunnos for sure), so maybe it's a more modern creation.
I suppose I should start off with the closest thing I have to a mermaid. Not exactly sure what they would be, so if anyone knows what I should call this, please let me know
Same thing goes through with these three, still don't know what they would be, but they are distinctly non-mermaid like.
I do know that she is an angel
And each one of these is a demon
