oh man i have a hard time picking a favorite
so, films that have impacted me the most as a writer and artist are-
[posting PHOTOS CUZ I CAN'T HELP MYSELF]
Pans Labyrinth:

This film is not only gorgeous but the writing is intense and I have SO MANY theories on just how to interpret the ending alone. Besides the dialog is fantastic and I felt more like an outsider watching in then just taking part of 'watching a movie'.
The Secret of Nimh - They involved hundreds of colors just for this film, how can I not be impacted by it when color is a focus of my life.

The Prince of Egypt - Beautiful soundtrack and animation but the characters were not only written very well but animated well as well. [In some scenes the characters legitimately can be seen BREATHING] The characters are believable and humanistic compared to the often 'distant' feeling that religious films tend to create. I just really admire this movie and feel it should be part of any film history course despite its religious affiliation. Besides, it is pretty honest with its tone just from the opening song...

The Road to El Dorado - Not the best well written but I'll be damned to say it isn't a favorite to watch and study.

Perfect Blue - This film just really fucked me up and I'm still not over it ????? I watched it twice in a row and still didn't fully catch on to everything going on.

Summer Wars - Some really intense animation sequences?! Plus the character dynamics are so wonderful.

Paprika - Pretty much what Inception wanted to be. Kinda like having a bad trip when high but animated.

Metropolis - A classic and worth seeing at least once if you write for the Sci-fi/Fantasy genre. Fun fact: The director had to flee Nazi Germany since the head of propaganda was so in love with his work that he planned to have the man to work for him.

Lagaan - One of my favorite Bollywood films to be honest. It even has a really cool dance number that is the epitome of sass ???
ok I'll stop cuz i'll just keep adding more and more
