Favorite part of romance stories?

I love the build up to the first kiss! I hate it when relationships start right off the bat hot and heavy. In my opinion, that first kiss needs to mean something special! Which is why my comic is a slow burn- even though I have readers commenting on the lack of "romance" at the moment. lol

I like the little things like the characters gazing into each others' eyes and smiling, the white and fluffy feeling, the thought of them ing like wild animals, hugs, light kisses... the little things.

I like the falling portion a lot, like when they start noticing little quirks about the other. Or one is beginning to realize their feelings so what use to not get them embarrassed/flustered now does, or when they catch them self thinking about them more. Idk, I read a lot of shoujo and I'm a sucker for the cute stuff haha

The time when mutual interest starts to develop, especially if it's not solely coming from physical attraction or shallow common interests, but from deeper, less evident common ground.
The most evident case is that of two persons who have no interest for each other at first sight, still no interest at first few conversations, but it develops over time.

for me there's got to be some massive moment of realization that their lives will never be the same...and the harder it is to get to that point, the more satisfying that moment is. it doesn't have to be a happy romance, it's just...the moment when they change

for me personally i especially like stories where the mc experiences heartbreak at first, and then gets stronger /show growth as a character, and starts falling in love with another character (it can be someone who's pretty close with the mc from the start but never really considered each other as romantic interests). the moment when the way they interact starts changing from between friends and soon-to-be-lovers or something is especially good if done well.

Big note: I'm not an avid romance reader and actually it's a genre I avoid the most.

• When they show their other sides in presence of each others. Examples but not limited to: a sweet and caring person who shows their darker and more bitter side, or a crude and arrogant person shows their softer and humbler side in front of their loved one.
• When they try to hide their feeling by acting cold or unwelcoming, but it backfires and they become more embarassed.
• When they fantasize the happy life with someone they love.
• This kind of scene involving a blatant lie to somebody's worry

Most of my favourites have been mentioned already but I absolutely love the build up for the first kiss, or first kisses in general. That's just the best part.
I also like when the characters fall asleep together, on the bed or couch or something, and end up cuddling each other when they sleep.
