Story Name: Ashen Truth
Genre: Action/Mystery
Setting: A cyberpunk, dystopian world
Themes: Brothers, family, duty, power, memory
Plot: Ashura (Ash) is a 17 year old, living in the slums of the city (known as the Graveyard). With his little brother's help, they do their best to make money and live off their environment. But a chance encounter at a local fight club changes the fate of the brothers' lives forever.

Okie dokes! Now that I've read a good bit of it, I think Ace would be represented by a Lotus. (As an aside, your writing style is very compelling! I will definitely be reading more)

This is sort of in relation to Origin. If the entity believes that there are impurities in the world- the mud the lotus grows in- there you go. It also is a good tie in for the detachment that Origin has from everything. Connected to and building from the impurities, but still above it. It's also a drawback to the purity that would be Ace in comparison to that otherworldly aspect. The color would definitely be purple for spiritual meanings and for the idea of a higher consciousness.

Petals, hard to say. In the case of Origin, none, in the case of Ace, one is lost at most right now. As I read further in, that's likely to change, but we'll see, eh?

For Lily, I am leaning towards the Petunia. This one may need some more explaining than I usually do, since it has a ton of varied meanings.

We'll start on the negative, since there's way more positive that is relevant here. Of the negative emotions, they can represent unrequited love (not necessarily fitting in full context, but a little relevant before any confessions happen.) I was thinking more about the idea where they represent the frustration that comes with holding one's emotions in. There are a few cases where Lily feels that in a few different contexts. Even when she's just not being told what's going on in family this can relate.

Now on to the positive! They're also related to nurturing love and care. Even before romance is a thing, those are elements that exist in the friendship Lily has with Anne. This is another case where I think purple would be the color best suited. Anne can be pretty whimsical, so their relationship had that feeling of enchantment. The characters are charming, too, so I feel like it fits. If any petals are lost, it's two. I also think she would have two of the flowers total.

Hope you like the choice! I went with the Night Sky Petunia variety since, well. Suits the scene with the swim~

I'm curious to know which flowers best represent my MC Ravik and ML Zarion. In addition to what can be gleaned from the story so far, each character has a thematic color: Violet for Ravik, Crimson for Zarion.

Alrighty,

For Zarion, I'm already thinking red orchid. A lot of reasons for that. Orchids in some places are a flower of temptation, but they have all sorts of meanings. Strength, passion, beauty, luxury. The red variant also lends itself to passion. He's a really imposing presence in your story, and I feel like he exudes the mature charm that orchids are also known for. I also thought it would be sort of amusing since the dream Ravik has is quite the housewarming, and that's often what these flowers are given for. It also can lend itself to the more, ah, passionate aspects you're getting into with some of its other meanings. They only have three petals, so he might have a cluster of four. I'm unsure if he's missing any.

For Ravik, I'm thinking violet gladiolus. These flowers are strength and confidence. They can also be flowers that represent affection that comes on quickly, or infatuation at first sight. It can be love, but that feels a little less accurate for this. They're for people who have a strong sense of self and moral integrity. Ravik gives off a really self-assured vibe early on, and it's maintained from what I've read. It's also good for resilience. I didn't choose purple only for the themes you set; it's also due to these colors being used for accomplishments. Since he's stepped into a big role, it felt fitting. I also don't have much to say about whether he's lost any petals, maybe one or two. They have six petals, I think he has two.

This is so interesting! Juno, the main protagonist already has a flower, she'd be a white lily bc of the symbolism, related to death and funerals but also rebirth! But you could do it with any other character you'd like or maybe her ammount of petals! Whatever you'd like I'll go read your story rn

Okie dokes! Wow, your story is really easy to get into. As I get more time I'll be sure to read more. Yves is particularly easy to be caught by, so I thought since Juno has a flower I could give him one.

First though, for Juno's flower, definitely a single lily. Flowers in singles usually share a meaning: loneliness, and she's got that. To the petals, due to her experiences, I think she has a single petal left- and that single petal might be holding on but has a bit of crinkling at the edges, like it's drying. This leads back to the symbolism you mention.

For Yves:

I was thinking the Coreopsis. He's immediately a very magnetic character, and his dialogue makes him easy to get comfortable with. Though considering the warnings that are given, I didn't feel right just giving him a flower that's only about happiness. The coreopsis is sometimes called the tickseed flower. I think this could lead into him being less innocent than he seems. Ticks are pests after all, and they can cause harm. The flower itself though is pretty and represents joy, friendships, cheer and love. They're pretty and inviting, which especially suits his introduction. He would have 2, and they have at least 8 petals each. I think he has maybe lost around three petals.

And about Yves, you’re absolutely right! it fits him so well, and I think you’ll really enjoy his character development… plus a little secret about him I can’t reveal! now I’m so invested with the meanings of flowers and the number of petals. If you keep reading, I’d be so happy if you could share your thoughts on the other characters too, I think that'd be fun! also, your story is really great and super original, and from what I’ve read so far, I think Amelia and Juno share that outcast vibe, and I love her even more because of it!

This is fantastic, thank you! I think both your flower choices are spot on for each character.

Quick question about the flower logic, from a plant nerd - The phalaenopsis orchid (Zarion's flower) has an inflorescence with several flowers on it, so would Mila see the full inflorescence (multiple flowers, multiple petals) or just a single flower? I also grow a lot of cacti and succulents, which have all manner of interesting blooms. Plumeria also produce an inflorescence with many flowers, so just curious how that would work in your world.

If you haven't looked up the Stapelia genus, it would be a good flower for a villain. It's a sinister looking flower and it stinks.

I subscribed, and I'm looking forward to see how Mila's story unfolds. She's quite resilient and mature for someone who has suffered so much loss at an early age, and I wonder if her ability is also a source of strength.

Ohhhh, I love that question!

Apologies ahead of time, I'm not the best with using the scientific names, so I hope this still makes sense.

I kind of debated that when I first came up with the idea, too. What I ended up coming to was that it tends to be more about the petals and what they represent. It would also be incredibly awkward in some situations if Mila is walking about and someone with a long flower cluster happens to turn about. The image of her getting smacked with flowers only she can see is amusing, but it would be a bit clunky in several aspects. I ended up figuring that the flowers she sees aren't necessarily attached to a stem or the groups they would be in their true nature.

An example of this would be the sunflower. The character who has it doesn't have any sort of stem or inflorescence, though I don't believe I did much describing of it. It is more just that the flower(s) extend almost directly out of the chest area. Others, like the orchid, would also not have any connections besides the flower, sepals, and its attachment to the chest.

Sorry if I got anything mixed up! Absolutely love plants and flowers, but I'll be the first to admit my understanding of them in the scientific sense is rather basic. Thank you for the suggestion! I'll certainly look into it, and I look forward to your future updates.
