Thank you for this topic. I'm sure it's going to help out someone who needs it. I used the wrong kind of font for my comic for the longest time, but for this year, I made my own using Calligraphr6 .and I use Ebrima for narration and use Showcard Gothic for sound effects and manipulate it for my liking.

Off topic, but I adore that last comic! It's so charming. The humor reminds me of Calvin and Hobbes, one of the first comics I really got into. <3

Aw, thank you! It was a comic strip I drew ages ago about my siblings and I as kids and all the madness we got up to without parental supervision

If you wanna read more of it, it's all at http://fluffernutters.thecomicseries.com/7 - I haven't drawn any in a long time, but it's pretty darn cute if I do say so myself.

Thank you! I actually went looking for it on your Tapas profile and was disappointed I couldn't find it! ^-^; I'll definitely give that a read!

I used to like Komika but there is something about that puts me off now. I think it's too geometric/angular...idk...maybe it's not soft enough for me anymore.

yes it's rather straigh and ithat's make her slightly more earnest which fits the style of my current comic - not to funny and not too ligjthearted

I'm a font junkie too! I now own all the dialogue fonts I listed above (even though I actually only use like 3).

Victory Speech is from Comicraft too. I didn't buy the full set for $149. I just bought the regular one for $49 (with 10% off on Fontspring). I just let the software bold/italicize even though it won't look as good as having the other two font types (i guess idk). I'll definitely keep an eye out for that sale to get the other 2 fonts types next year.

SHIT! I didn't know Blambot did black Friday! I'm gonna get all the rest of the sound effects fonts I want on that day then! lol

They(Comicraft) are about to have a 50% off sale for SDCC Online(San Diego); I would indulge, but A) I basically have a lot of everything and B) at this point I can wait until the next New Year's Font sale...

They also have 50% off fonts on My Fonts(https://www.myfonts.com/4) from time to time...I picked up their Addams Family font there to use for Halloween some yrs back. Also, one of the lead designers- John Roshell, has been doing some font stuff on his own but those are expensive.

With the New Year's sale I go all out(I purposely save money for this day); this is my spoils from the sale this year:

I usually target A) world balloon/dialogue fonts that I like and are pricey and B) font sets that have like 5-7 variations that I can use.

With Blambot, I usually grab a font or 2 throughout the year and grab about 2 on his Black Friday sale. I'm pretty much at the same place with him as with Comicraft- I have about everything that I want...he has, lately, been making fonts that work well within the context for credits page design or that can fit nicely into a design campaign(if you build one around your comic).

4 months later

you can make a font with calligraphr that way you don't have to write them in.

Interesting, I'll have to check that out.

Edit: Oh yes, I like this very much!

I would love to get more fonts , but for some reason I’m not able to get them on Clip Studio on my iPad. Anyone know how I can?

Well, you may have to look up how to install fonts onto your device. If you already have, contact Clip Studio Support to see if they can help you get them on their ios app.

I don't own an iPad so I don't know (and I only work from a PC).3

15 days later

Comicraft's New Year's font sale coming in 11 days- all fonts will be on sale for $20.21!

Yaaaass! Will have to check it out  I recently got one of their fonts (Meanwhile) through Adobe Fonts, but it irks me that I can't use it in CSP -which is where I do most of my lettering- so I was thinking about purchasing the font for easier use. Btw... is this2 the site? 'Cos when I searched on Google I found this as my first result, but there's also a "Comicraft" site which doesn't appear to have secure connection and now I'm a little confused D:

Yes that is the site.

The sale will probably actually start on New Year's Eve if past serves me correct. I use Meanwhile as my default dialogue font for my webcomic...it's getting harder each year, coz I've bought SO MANY of their fonts over the years; I got at least 2 definite that I'm going to get- and they just came out with a new one that looks pretty cool.

3 days from the sale...getting a little impatient- just ready to buy my fonts and get it out of the way, but then also since I've bought up a lot of the stuff that I really wanted I feel like there isnt much left for me to purchase.

Maybe the good part will be I can finally stop buying fonts..?

Hahahahaha(yeah, right...)

I was having one heck of a time with finding a fitting font that was royalty free when I first started making my comic so I made my own too.

I used calligraphr online and affinity designer to make my own font after struggling with trying to find one that was royalty free and that felt just right for my comic. There is no lower case for this font, so instead I made a variant that’s more rounded for the lower case and the uppercase is more angular. I only switch fo indicate something magical is afoot though.

For sound effects and being extra I draw what’s needed out or type it up and then warp it in Affinity.

Nice to see so many fonts though and places to get them though! It’s really cool to see how folks integrate typeface into their comic layouts.

The Comicraft sale starts this evening...I've got my pennies ready!

For me, it was a CHAOS at first cause I had to.. well still have to use couple of fonts in 1 comic but I also gotta memorize the color pattern for different occasions..
Anyways, I can make my list here
I use InShot for the typing, stickers, effects etc. for evrything basically besides the drawing part tbh
And I use fonts that I CANT EVEN PRONOUNCE

First, the Narrator: LeagueGothic

.

Sfx: Gloria Hallelujah

.

Characters in Real World: Anime Ace 3BB

.

Characters in Online World:

NanigoSquare-Regular

.

Online World "System" Font:

Oh and for character names and Levels: Pixelmix

I might have more that I cannot think of rn

I know the feeling. Creating my own lifted all the stress I had to find a fitting font. Just like you, the sfx, I also create my own and then warp the crap out of it.

Bought my fonts from the Comicraft sale(ends either tomorrow night or early Wednesday morn); got some reward points that I can use towards the purchase of another font- I know which one I want, but I'll wait til tomorrow to get it.
