For those who publish on webtoons and tapas, what are your experiences?

Curious to see if folks have notice any stark differences between publishing on the two platforms. I know webtoons has a bigger reader base and all that but just wanted to gauge creator exp! Myself, i've noticed webtoon readership/subs jumps in spikes for me while tapas has a slower but steadier growth

That's pretty much it. Yep.

Yah, Webtoons has a lot of commentators and a bigger reader pool, but there is no notification system, so as a creator its hard to see what your reader base is doing. The stats are kinda nonexistent too. Tapas lets you hard core track everything about your comic, your followers, the comments, etc. But its a super small community compared to Webtoons.

Uploading is much easier to do on Tapas, with its scheduling feature and the creator's wall, as well as the fact that it has actually a notification system for comments.

My comic's a bit more popular on WT though.

Edit: WT does allow me to upload more files for my comic though. My episodes are very long, and so on Tapas I have to split into two.

haha that's a good way to think about it and I definitely do appreciate the creator functionality that tapas has! I don't see the why webtoon wouldn't have notifications/stat tracking for creators, doesn't seem like it'd be a cumbersome feature to add but whatever.

Both haven't been so successful for me because my style isn't really what their readers are looking for, TBH. So if you're doing a page format comic that isn't very manga, then you might be a fish out of water (though there are exceptions for that all the time so who knows? and trends change and technology changes--so who knows what the future will be like even for scroll comics). So, I post here because it's convenient and allows me to schedule my own posts (it is a marvel to me that Webtoons doesn't do that since most successful webcomic artists operate with a backlog), but it's not much more or less of a following that I would have on my own website. But, unlike my own website, it's a lot less work to edit and manage (though I do miss having more control of my space)

I don't have many followers, here or on Webtoons. But on Tapas I was able to gain a (albeit a very small) readership. On Webtoons I have next to none.

The above comments are pretty much accurate in what's different between Webtoons and Tapas. As far as my opinions go, I favor Tapas more for the following reasons:

• More uploading features and options.
• No character limit on upload description. (I have a small dev journal entry I pair with every update so my readers are informed about what's going on behind the scenes.)
• Notifications of comments, likes, and general activity.
• Lack of a rating system prevents people from abusing it for the sake of competition
• Readers and creators having their own profile gives a "face" to each person. While I have more subscribers on Webtoons, I feel closer to each of my subs on Tapas

And I don't know if there's a bug on the site or something, but comments just...stopped showing up on Webtoons a while ago. It's just whitespace where the comments and text entry box used to be. I can no longer see the feedback my readers give on there, nor can I converse with them through replies.
