[Found!] Looking for writer/co-creator for short, serious story (Not paid)

Hi!

I'm looking for a little project to get me back into my creation mood as I transition from full-time summer work back to nice and easy college. I really want to draw something but I'm not particularly good at writing (or more like, it's very time-consuming for me and I have very little time right now haha)

Ideally it'd be a very short project between 30-70 pages but I'm open for more if this gets really interesting. I'd like for it to be serious, something that might fit in horror, drama, or mystery. I'd really like to try out a super inky film-noir-like style which would allow me to be sketchier and focus more on mood-setting and tone.

I've got a comic I drew well over a year ago: Deerstalker. Not really representative of what I'd like to do or my current skill, but hey, a comic!

The goal is to work on the story so that I can be well on my way by the time September rolls around. I don't particularly care what kind of role you'd like as long as I get to do some painting! Please comment or PM with writing examples or ideas.

So story ideas? Lately I've been toying with the idea of a little boy who dies of stress, but it's still a work in progress. I'm not very good at funny or cute stories; everything I write is somewhat dark. I also drove by some woods a few weeks ago and all the trees were leaning to the left. Some of them were broken, but there wasn't a single tree that wasn't leaning to that one side. So I've been trying to use that as a setting for my story.

I understand if you're looking for someone more experienced/qualified than I. However! I would be interested in helping you in some way. I don't have much experience writing for comic artists, but I'm a webcomic fan and I think your artwork is enchanting. I'm good at writing dialogue and I have quite a bit of experience writing fiction both competitively and for other purposes. I have worked with other authors (collaboratively) before, but never with a visual artist. If you are interested in working together, I would be delighted.

Hey, sorry for the late reply.

Yeah, weird settings are often great starting points for stories, the one I'm currently trying hard to flesh out has to do with all the ivy that blankets the forest near where I live. Entire trees just covered canopy to floor in ivy.

Definitely send me a pm and we can continue this conversation, I would love to hear possibilities for short stories. I'm flattered you like my work but I would also like to work with someone more familiar with writing dialog.

I'm up for a writing project. I have two one shot scripts that I've written for two different artist that you can take a look at if you'd like to see them. As well as what the the final product ended up looking like.

If you already a story idea, I have no problem writing it for you and give it proper pacing, story structure, and so on.

Hello! I know this thread is very old, but if you are still interested in collaborating, I have some ideas for one-shot comics I have been tinkering with. I love your art style and I think it would look great for some of the ideas I have! Hey there @nikara thanks for replying! Yes, this topic is indeed rather old and I already have too many projects on my plate to pick up another one-shot. You would probably be much better off sticking to relatively recent posts for collaboration since situations can change a lot over the course of a few months. Good luck!
