Sorry, but I'm not convinced.

First off, ai has no skills. And in fact it's notorious for weird inconsistencies and unnatural mistakes. A lot of which are present in the image you posted.

You say it's a vector drawing, but then show off something highly pixelated? That doesn't mesh with me.

If you have a timelapse I'd love to see it though

Besides it’s the mods of this forum’s job to go after anyone using ai as far as I know. If their stories haven’t been flagged by the mods it pretty much means that they haven’t used any ai generated content.

But using AI isn't being creative, it's stealing from those trying to be creative. The mods are here to keep things from getting too out of hand, but it's also up to us to flag things since they can't be everywhere at once. Even on the main site, things escape the mods' notice, which is why users can report things.

And speaking of mods @joannekwan please lock this thread before it derails even more.

Look y’all, I just want to set the record straight by making these following points:

1. It is true that using ai art solely for your cover or comic etc and calling it yours is not ethical.

2. However, using ai art it as a reference or for concept development (again not calling it your own art and posting it everywhere just using it as the tool it was meant to be) can be and is beneficial to an artist as they conjure their own artwork.

3. With all of this said, it is also not ok to go on a sort of “witch hunt” on people’s art. Constantly accusing people of using an ai to generate their art can be seen as bullying and can paint you in a bad light, which, honestly, nobody wants at ALL.

All in all, from what I’ve observed so far, ai can be used as a tool to aid in the development of your art concepts and as occasional references. In other words it is a tool, like a hammer. A hammer can be used to drive nails into wood during the construction of a house. It can also be used to hurt someone. An ai can be used to help an artist better their art by being a reference or a help when developing an idea, or it can be used to fabricate fake art. It all depends upon the user.

This is my opinion and of course it may not be perfect because I’m only human and still learning much as we all are so save all the hate ok? Let’s all just go with the flow and have a good time creating. I do wish everyone well and do hope that this issue can be resolved quickly and peacefully. You all are amazing artists and I wish you all much peace and prosperity. Thank you.

That's ignoring the ethical and environmental issues with AI in it's current form. Whether one uses it as reference or for profit, it's still using a tool constructed from the stolen work and effort of others. For the record, I'm not against AI as a concept, but as it is at the moment.

Honestly, you're free to your opinion, but then why are we not afforded the same courtesy? As artists, people on this forum are defensive and cautious about this issue, but no one came out name calling or throwing insults and no one was ganged up on. I wasn't going to bother saying anything until multiple people started calling out Kevin for voicing a valid concern. You say to save the hate, but there was none? The issue was dropped until you and tuba tagged Kevin again.

Either way, I already asked to close this thread so there's no point in continuing this argument.

I’m not an artist but I can see why you guys are upset about people using ai and proclaim themselves to be artists. It’s annoying to have others use technology in the wrong way and have others act like they’re just as passionate as actual artists,creators.

But when used correctly like most technology I think when used as a tool then ai can be beneficial. It’s not ai that’s causing an uproar but rather how others use it in a negative manner.

All in all I 100% agree that maybe this thread should be closed.

Edit: well I can understand what you are saying here @vapidink . @KevinReijnders was expressing his concern and I believe that is absolutely necessary and encouraged. I did not mean for my comments on this thread to seem as though I’m trying to belittle or discredit his or your opinions, for it is absolutely true that both of can and absolutely should express your concerns and opinions when you see at any time any place and when you see fit. One of the only reasons why I first chimed in was because @KevinReijnders started to include cursing in his comment as well as being a bit pushy in previous comments. The only point I’ve been trying to make was to have your opinion but pls don’t be super pushy about it as it can somewhat irritate others and cause the bad reactions that are seen on this thread.

With that said, if it seemed as though I had encroached on these rights to expression I do offer my sincerest apologies to the both of you. My best wishes
