While I was working on my projects, I remembered why I came to Tapas at the end of last year. It is very difficult to make money on comics, if you make them in Russian (my native language). That's why I decided to collaborate with English-language scriptwriters.
And now in my free time I decided to launch a small startup. I plan to translate Russian comics into English and help with their publication. And I even have one project in manga-style (I hope that soon we will be able to share its English version).
I decided that I could offer the same thing to other creators. I can translate English-language comics into Russian for publication on local Russian-language platforms. I can’t promise big profits, because this is a small market and, to be honest, here people are not used to paying for content. But I believe that together we can improve the situation. I want the readers to have access to legal, high-quality translation, and the authors can receive a reward for their work.
What I offer:
- free translation (the translation will be done by a professional translator, not me),
- split income 70/30. 70% to the creator (s), 30% to the project. These 30% will pay for the work of translators, editors and will go to the development of the project.
You may consider this condition unfair, but I can’t offer any other options yet. Now I can only invest in translation. For successful projects, I can change the percentage.
Sources of income: sales of digital and printed copies, donation, merchandise.
If you are interested or want more information, then write me a private message.
I will not be able to translate all projects. I will have to choose those that have commercial potential and a sufficient level of art. I hope for your understanding.
If you are a Russian comic creator and want to translate your comic in English, write to me and we'll discuss options.
If you make comics in other European languages (French, German, Spanish, Italian) and want to publish them in English and/or Russian, you can write to me too.
