Genderbending kinda happens by itself in my current story xD There is the idea of the multiverse, in which a world repeats itself infinite times but with differences that can be very subtle or so large the worlds are not even comparable.
Some of the characters will get to meet their counterparts in other versions of their original worlds, and some of those have the opposite gender. Hope I can get that far in the story

In my book series "the prophecies of the 6th era" it is actually one of the major premises that the main character casts an illusion spell on herself that changes her gender, but then suffers from amnesia so she forgets that she is actually a girl and a magician.

Gender bending my story won't affect the story much, as the story don't focus on identity surrounding their gender and so; although I planned to give a character a specific nightmare connected to a bodily function of a certain sex (just imagine gender bent Carrie and how the menstruation scene would be different). The only different is rather how they behave and treated, due to the expectation and standard of their environment towards a gender (like a certain character won't drink as much as the original version, or another character faces more social consequences for being promiscuous)

I sometimes sketch them gender swapped or using avatar maker to make so, and I kind of loving the gender bent version. I also love naming them and dressing them. Some characters also came out as a different gender than they're planned.

I love thinking about how things could be different if they were genderbent. It was something I loved in fandom too (before the whole "hdu it's offensive to trans people" thing). For instance the different designs. I was never a fan of give them huge boobs, a short skirt and long hair and tadah! Or the other way around. Like there's no consideration there. But when it's actually given some thought it's a lot of fun to think about how the designs would change it can be really good. And in worlds where there's an actual difference between how men and women are treated.

In my world, women generally have the magic, men with magic are weird. So it'd actually change quite a lot for quite a few of them. Percy, for instance, who's already have a very sheltered life by the standard of his peers, put down to him being an only child (something highly unusual in this world), would probably be reduced to Rapunzel level coddling with only mildly better intentions.

eh im not a fan since they mostly rely on stereotypes of male and female (ie long hair, hyperfeminine, curvy; short hair, hypermasculine, muscular) and my characters already tend to break them with most of my female characters having short hair and a lot of my guys having bob length to long hair. and i dont really feel like it would be interesting? esp since my comic's outfit design leans gender neutral in general. except maybe peacock since his species follows the sexual dimorphism in real life birds.

I drew a number of my characters gender bent as a challenge on another site once...

Here's Charlotte, Chase, and Shana as they normally appear...

And here they are gender bent.

And here's James and Claire normally...

And gender bent!

Personality wise their gender bent selves would probably be very similar to their normal selves.
