Growing a webcomic on Webtoon vs. Tapas?

I've only been uploading on webtoon for about a month, but I've considering also uploading on Tapastic. What are the differences? From what I've seen, it seems a lot slower to grow a webtoon on Tapas rather than Canvas and Tapas seems more catered to individual pages rather than long chapters.
Most of the subscribers I have gained on webtoon is from participating in the forums on Tapastic rather than actually gaining them naturally. Is it any different from Tapas?

Also, support on my comic is much appreciated.

i dont' think episode lengt has something to do with it i saw one panel comics and classic pages on both sites. Tapas allow you to upload 40 images 4000 px height... so it's up to creator really.
also have you checked the mature policies?.. webtoons will delete your smut comics and tapas is most popular for steamy BL (to me) but you might have checked other genres ...

Damn, most of my chapters are 70 + images, so if I were to upload on tapas that means I would have to condense them down.

I have 3 times more subs n tapas thanks to this forum. idont even know how to promote on webtoon. they don't even have DMs to chat with creators an no comments notifications , hello UX

From my point of view, the biggest difference is the sites themselves. Webtoon is very basic. It doesn't have forums, no notification systems or user profiles. You are practically left in the dark. It annoys me a lot because you can't really build a community over there and when you get comments or anything, you don't know unless you scout the episodes. I personally prefer Tapas, because it's much easier to communicate with people over here. Marketing the Webtoon version is much harder in my eyes.I think that personal interaction with people greatly affects the growth of the comic, at least that's my experience.

you can combine them to fit 4k height ooooor make 2 episodes to keep quality
why would would you decrease it? there's endless scroll option and most readers like to binge read

Promoting your comic works roughly the same regardless of what platform you're on. Generally speaking unless you're being featured by the site, most of your potential readership will stumble across you at the top of freshly updated or via a search, and you'll have to do a lot of the legwork yourself otherwise.

Anecdotally most people seem to have more luck/grow a little faster on Webtoons but that's not universally true- for example my comic ended up haivng ~35% more subs on Tapas and much much more reader interaction.

For most there's no reason not to just try both out though. Unless one platform rubs you the wrong way, uploading to 2 doesn't take much longer than just 1 and you increase your potential reach.

Webtoons supports scrolling comics much more and requires a lot more luck to really make it. Tapas has more of a community so you can better foster a following than on webtoons. I upload to both places. Hit as many people as possible. But I have a personal hand in growing on Tapas comparatively

Tapas and Webtoon have both great potential.
If you want a nice community to interact with, focus on tapas tho We're all nice here

Is tapas more for traditional pages? All comics I follow on webtoon are vertical while here on tapas they're mostly in the traditional style.

Tapas supports traditional format pages better than webtoons but I think there's more than that as well, especially in this past year. For my own story as an example I started on Smackjeeves. I always loved that website as a format and that was basically only for traditional format comics. It also had a more old school set up and had a lot of user interface and reader data that I liked having access to. After that site changed so drastically at the end of 2019 I wanted to find a new primary place to update. I still update on SJ but I wanted to find a new "home", so I tried out a bunch of places. Theoretically I should like The Duck best but the community is so much smaller and I don't like the reader data. In the end, Tapas had more or less everything I liked about SJ except for the ability to customize my comic's page. I really like the more active feedback I get on subs, views, likes, etc,.. and I like the forum sa a community to participate and grow in.

Yeah, I love it here too because of the forum and supportive community. Webtoon feels really anonymous and kind of juvenile.

It can be but it also has a higher volume of activity and high skilled more professional content. It's also more reader friendly in my experience. They each have their goods and bads. But I do prefer it here even if I upload to both
