Sure thing!
In my lore there's a handful of dream spirits and only ever one or two nightmare spirits at a time. Leitar are ones who host one of these spirits next to their own.
So my main (Milo) has his own soul and the nightmares', Ashtai. It CAN take charge of the body and mind (Milo blacks out when it happens), but doesn't often. He doesn't know other Leitar (though they do exist, they found themselves in a city he'll eventually go to in book 2!) as they are VERY rare. And the powers/magic that comes with it is very dream and memory based. Of course this extends to illusions and such, which kind of works as a 'waking dream'. Milo is a special case because he hosts the Nightmare, so he has nightmares VERY often, some of which are premonitory.

When a Dunamis is born there will be signs, namely that the Dunamis has exceptional abilities. Even the Dunamis himself isn’t necessarily aware of what he is - this was the case with Daecon, who was raised outside of the Shapeshifter society and didn’t even know that it existed until he did a shift by accident (the shift was reflex and it saved his life). The last Dunamis before Daecon was over 5000 years ago, so even the most knowledgeable shifters might not recognize one. Daecon was only recognized because his birth was prophesied by a Hecate (woods witch), and one of his fathers is well versed in the lore of their people.
Shifters hide from humans now, but it was not always the case. The two races lived in harmony thousands of years ago, but the previous Dunamis was not a good man and created a rift between humans and shapeshifters (as well as between shapeshifters and Hecates). One of Daecon’s tasks will be to heal those rifts, but he does not know this yet (thankfully he doesn’t read these forums!)
Thank you! I think I understand it more now.
So the nightmare spirits are really rare, even more rare than their (possible) hosts. No wonder Milo hasn't encountered the others.
Doesn't seem too nice, to have all these nightmares... Or is he, well, I don't know, kind of protected? Does he know that these are "only" nightmares, so they don't effect him as much as they could? Ah, and the premonitory ones, can he use them, or does he have to see them happen helplessly?
I already have so many books/ comics to read, I can't promise anything. But I marked your story for me, cause it sounds really interesting!
Ah damn, good questions, I’ll try to answer them to the best of my ability.
The biting is definitely painful, the more painful it is the higher the chance of becoming an angel is. It can range from a simple ‘ow’ to agonizing. But with the most painful ones your nearly guaranteed to become an angel.
The demon tentacles are physical, but they do have a dark aura around them. The aura isn’t visible to humans, but it will give them a slight sense of dread, like the feeling that something is wrong.
Wether you’ll become an angel or demon depends on how you’ve lived your life (and if you’re marked). If you’re kind and help others you’ll become an angel. We’re you cruel and mean then you’ll become a demon. But once you are an angel or demon, the lines start to get blurred. If you went to hell, but then wanted to become a better person, you’d need to find a way into heavenif you’d want to become an angel. So neither are truly good or evil. The main difference between the two that isn’t appearance and abilities, is how they make their choices. Angels pride themselves in their principles and follow the rules based on those. While for demons anything goes, you don’t need an explanation for any of your actions. (Angels are lawful, demons are chaotic. To put it in dnd terms).
Damn that last question really made me think about the fundamentals of my worldbuilding, was a good challenge. Thank you!
Well, here are mine, three categories to explain here so, I'll try to be clear as possible
First, the Subham species. They have their own races, and most of them look almost like humans but with clear differences, such as hair color and other unusual traits for a human. If you compare them with us, well, we are completely fragile compared to them because of their natural resistances and longevity. You may be surprised, but one year for them is equivalent to 457 Human Years. Additionally, they are born with powers and can have up to three different sets of powers.
Second, angels. They live among mortals as guardians of light, preventing any darkness from corrupting the utopian world. Their true form has not been revealed yet, but they are born as mortals so they can be completely compatible in that world. At first glance, they may appear like any Subham, but the difference lies in their knowledge and access to more powers than an average Subham.
Third, Bioversals. They are basically the animals of that world, but with powers and a huge adaptability for evolution. Some of them are peaceful, some are friendly, and some are predators, so people try to avoid living in areas where certain Bioversals can be a threat.
Oooph, that's hard! Well, at least it's worth the pain, I assume.
Oooh, okay, makes the tentacle thing even more dangerous and dark!
That's super interesting! I see some parallels/ similarities to my angels and demons, and I love the "there is no unalterable good/ evil" approach! Your (life) choices matter, and I think that's a good and important base.
Aw, happy you see it that way! And thank you for sharing your thoughts with us!
Hello and thank you for sharing!
Do your Subham, angels and Bioversals also have humans in their world? So the abilities of Subhams and angels stand out even more?
In the drawing, the angel seems to have some kind of horns. Is that a special feature of angels, or just of this one or am I completely mistaken and it's just some kind of clothing?
What are typical powers of these Bioversals? For example of the ones pictured in your drawing?
If I'm too curious, just don't answer.
Actually I like your curiosity, curious people helps me a lot to know what readers needs to know in the comic so that's the kind of readers I hope to find more often, because it makes me feel like I'm explaining the necessary stuff and not info dumping.
Sadly there are no humans in this world, you can say Subhams are like the next jump in evolution also, this helps the narrative a lot because people won't be thinking on them being dead by a giant rock crushing them, receiving laser beams and all kind of crazy powers that a normal human wouldn't take without ending in the hospital at least
. Because, you know, a lot of shows anime or western media claims that their characters are humans and somehow they always survives crazy stuff without even a broken bone, and they insist, they are normal humans besides the powers.
Don't worry, a lot of people do that mistake at first glance, that is actually his hair, I did an animatic about this particular episode and you can see in a fully animated segment that "the horns" move because of the wind if you want I can leave you the link.
All Bioversals have elemental attacks, depending on their evolutionary stage they can have more, but only four and unlike Pokemon they can't learn new attacks by any method so all the ones who belong to one species share the same set of powers. For example the ones in the drawing can use wind related attacks, but because these are two variants of the same species the bigger ones have access to light related attacks, reflecting their inspiration to the Spanish Lunar Moth.
Well, then it's perfect.
Ah, no, I don't think it's sad. I was just wondering if they have to "compete" with Subhams and angels; I imagined that as quite hard. Ah, I fully understand! For me your take on this sounds quite logical. If you want them to have some, well, more special adventures, it's good they have these powers/ abilities, so they don't end up pretty hurt (or dead) or it feels completely unrealistic.
Oooh, his hair! Ahaha, okay, I think I can see it now, but I'm also curious about the animation. So if you still like to, I would be happy about the link.
I see! To be honest, I thought a bit of Pokemon, when you first wrote about these Bioversals, but of course there are differences! And thank you for the examples!
What do you think is the most impressive power of all of your Bioversals?
Thanks, well, I hope you like it here is the Animatic1 in my youtube channel so it's easy to access
Well, the most impressive powers in terms of attacks are the ones that can adapt under different circumstances. In terms of special skills, I think the ability of tracking magic, which is hinted at some point in the comic and later becomes a plot point (I mean in future seasons). But that's my personal opinion based on the data I've created so far. Maybe in action, people may rank it completely differently depending on how it's portrayed
Oooh, thank you for the link, that was cute and fun to watch! So many different Bioversals, and the end, awww! ️
Oh, both sound great!
And I think you'll never know what others will like. Especially writers and readers do have very different points of view. So I just go gladly with your opinion for now.
