Today we celebrate the 85 years of my favorite character in all media, BATMAN! Since I was a kid, Iāve loved every movie, show, book, and toy Iāve seen, and he has become a truly special presence in my life.
So today we all honor that, and for me, he was also the main inspiration for my novel, Santa Fae. Creating a hero that rises above their pain to do good, with a city of that seems to want to eat itself, but represents our greatest hope.
Batman is for everyone, he himself has taught us that. And I thought someone like me could be like Batman, even when I never saw a Latine person from where Iām from in the fantasy books I read, or be a superhero like himā¦so I made my own, in a city based on my homeā¦and I owe that to Batman.
