Has anyone here tried Tumblr Blaze?

Tumbler has its own Ad system called Tumblr Blaze. It's been few months ever since the feature was launched. I've seen some of them and they looked funnier and a little more chaotic than Instagram or Facebook Ads due to its hilarious users.

I’m kinda tempted to Blaze my promotional posts there. Webcomics, commissions and etc. Has anyone here tried Tumblr Blaze? How was your experience? If not, would you try it in the future?

Well.. not to be a party pooper but as someone who uses Tumblr or well, several social media, I personally don't use nor pay for Ads on any platform as I believe it's kinda useless and a way to waste money (cof cof, already wasted money a few years ago to promote a comic of mine and honestly, there wasn't any change at all)

Why? Well... just because your content will pop on people's feed or somewhere in their screen doesn't mean that they are going to be interested enough to click it and then read it, support it or similar.
Not to mention that nowadays almost everyone uses a plug-in or extension to block ads, and yeah, even promoted posts by Tumblr are hidden with AdBlock on.

Thank you for telling us about your experience. Yeh, they do have a paid option for Ad-Free browsing. It's like they are selling a spear and a shield together. You wanna promote? or you don't want to see a promo?

This is new to me! I was gonna do the same thing for Twitter in the future. But this seem cheaper. Going to do this today!

Exactly! They also have that so it kind of makes you go [Insert Fax noises] and I genuinely don't know if there are exceptions for certain Ads.
Still, my experience was with Facebook, not Tumblr so I wouldn't know much on that department.

The thing that I can mention tho, (after checking 2 replies above) is that... Tumblr is actually a pretty active site but it mostly focus on fan content. Fanart, fanfiction or even takes on characters from series tend to be WAY more popular and have WAY more engagement than Original content.

I guess that's why Tumblr made this Blaze feature. During the pandemic, they gained some new users and I believe they are the main target audiences for Blaze promos.

True. Fan contents are way more popular there. Hence, fanart and fanfiction commission promos might work well when Blaze? I know nothing now but if I ever learn anything about that, I will be back to this thread!

I won't know.
And independently if you make fan or original content. Promo posts will still be blocked with Tumblr's No-Ad feature or any AdBlock extension

That's a good point. I'm told that in North America, ad blocker users are around 40 to 50% of entire platform users on average. Then, Tumblr Blaze is also likely to be seen to the rest, 50 to 60%. 2,500 impressions might mean 1,200 to1,500 in fact. Hmm interesting!
