Has changing the Title of your Comic or Novel caused you to lose subs?

I am currently planning on changing my cover, but a good samaritan told me that I should also have my title changed. After going over their opinion I decided that I would do that. However, now I am faced with a current problem—losing subs. If I were to only change my cover, that would be fine as it has the same title, but changing both the title and cover is kind of out there. Theres nothing wrong with my current title, it's just I find that later on it no longer suited my story and caused those who read my summary to misunderstand causing me to ultimately lose subs in the process after they discovered it wasn't as what it was 'advertised' to be. And yet, most of my current loyal subs looked and read my cover and title and decided it was good enough to stay subscribed — if that was their only reason to subscribe.

Changing covers is something people regularly do! They may want to attract a new audience or switch things up, or they find something that better reflects their story.

A title change, however, is a bit trickier since it's the main thing people ascribe to a story. Like how else are you going to refer to a work? This is why when a company changes names, they have to do a major ad campaign to let people know their new name. If you only have a few subs, it might not hinder you too much. Either way, it would be a good idea to do an announcement saying 'X is now Y!' Especially if the change is drastic, definitely make an announcement in the series and on all your social media.

That is a point I haven't thought of...mass advertisement. I planned on only sending a notification through Tapas as that's my only form of communication. I guess it's time to bring in Twitter or something of the sort. Thank you for your thoughts. This has been plaguing me since last week.
