Have you created model sheets of your characters?

Kind of! I created these for a pitch, so they're more for others to get a sense of my comic's character than they are for recreating a design. I don't see a need to do thorough model sheets unless someone else needed to recreate my characters.

Mmmm kinda? I drew a few model sheets for my 2 main characters when I very first started the comic, but since then I've decided to not reference them anymore, since I really want my art style and how I choose to draw them to slowly change.. Also my characters wear lots of different types of outfits, so I have to make individual outfit design referrals anyway, so yeah. I do, of course, have a color ref., though, and a hair-coloring reference, so I remember all the highlights and such XD Below is an example of the clothing design referrals I do

Eh I guess. I just draw them out just for color reference and so I won't foget what they look like. Although I tend to draw my refs really messy since it's just there for me to get an idea.

@TrustyShamrock You're right! I guess because I have a habit of strictly categorizing things so I think of them more along the lines of reference sheets rather than model sheets, even though those two things are technically the same ^^;

I make model sheets for my characters all the time. Its an important step in materializing your OC. I didn't really pick up on this habit until 2012 where I realized I didn't know what some characters looked like at certain angles.

while looking at all the other posts I've noticed rather stupidly that i forgot to create a model sheet for the first story of my anthology unlocked, and as a result i find myself designing characters as i create the page. i plan to finish rest of the story that was a sort of reminder to create model sheets for the future stories and as a sort of punishment.

the most I've done is just a color drop ref but depending if i've drawn them before or after they've appeared on page they can range from ok to ???????????????????????

Haha, nope. I've been drawing most of my main characters a lot for the past few months, so their designs are pretty ingrained in my head. The most I do is draw full body portraits for reference because I'm too lazy to draw a complete reference sheet.

I am exactly the same, lol.
Though my characters clothing changes in each chapter, so I might draw a full body sketch for reference but then I work it into my comic somehow to save time and effort 😅
