Apparently Noelle wants to do a crossover Christmas Special between her She-Ra and this He-man.

Which I am all for if we get to see Mark Hamill Skeletor take care of two kids and a robotic puppy and learn about the magic of friendship and holidays from them like he did in the original.

I didn’t watch the new shera cause it didn’t interest me in any way besides ā€œthere’s lesbiansā€ which is fine but it felt less like a cool progressive thing and more like a cash grab so I avoided it, I will prob do the same with the new heman till the full first season comes out and I hear more of it.

Yes the ā€œlookā€ is very traditional and the animation is well made like castlevania but just cause the animation is pretty dosnt mean the plots not gonna be a waste of time šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø I dumped castlevania after the second session cause why would I watch anything without Dracul in it? Not to mention my immense disappointment on the lack of the castles screen time- that plays is suposed to be an enemy in itself but meh.

Pretty dosent always equal good.

True......may watch the first episode or two to give it a shot......

Hope the writers know what they are doing, that could bring a smile to my older brothers that grew up with it......

I'll call up DreamWorks and whoever currently owns the He-Man license and pitch my winning idea to them right away.

This sounds hilarious. I hope neither team changes their art style at all and we get a bizarre Kingdom Hearts esque mismatch where the incredibly gay anime-esque She-Ra cast in their pretty pink and purple outfits are all hanging out with these craggy macho He-Man dudes.

I was thinking the same thing,. The very sleek modern Sh-Ra designs mixed with the heavily detailed 80's-tacular look of the He-Man reboot would look hilarious in a Christmas Special together.

(Now i kinda wanna see someone who can replicate both styles do a mock-up art peice just to see what it would look like.)

There is a blonde man in my comic and he holds up a sword, so I guess it's He-Man.

.....Ah man, remember that time He-man took over a country, immediately stabbed a guy and then agreed to let somebody attempt to body-snatch a teenage girl because she refused to acknowledge him as king? Classic kids entertainment. Very inspirational hero.

One day we had this movie in the background on the TV and we discovered it had an after credit scene. I laughed so hard I almost broke a rib.

Lol.....Urien is the anithesis of He-Man.....

Now i am picturing him doing the "end episode lessons" but being a terrible rolemodel :joy:

Urien: "Let's talk about teamwork.......that's for pussies.....be better so you don't need a team in the first place"......"but having pawns is okay"

ā€œThe finest pawns are those with pawns of their own.ā€ :smirk:

Urien: "alright kids, today i will teach you how to make your own pyramyd scheme!.....make sure you recluit insecure and/or submissive people!"

OK, I know I am not someone who knows a lot about He-Man but this looks like it takes more from the comics than the campy 80s version.

I also know this exists,

this was the version that was on TV when I was a kid but I never really watched it

I thought it was a bad dream.... so you say that it was real??? That show did happend?
Oh my

My only other He Man knowledge was seeing an article in Wizard magazine listing upcoming films. I remember seeing them announce a He-Man film and a Thundercats film, neither were ever made. This must have been in 2008-ish with an expected release date of 2010 or 2012

There was also this version in 2002. I remember it being pretty decent.

No that is the main character of the non-he-man show Teela.

There is now so much evidence that I have drowned myself in sadness.

The show is all about Skeletor beating He-Man and getting the power sword.
Then when the hero is out Teela will be the new hero.

Skywalker all ower again.

IMHO if you are going to do an alternative story and change the characters, then proclaim it and I will be curious to follow.

But showing this trailer and gives the nostalgia style only to cheat you into something else is crap

As a kid. My friend had an uncle that took his Skeletor action figure and put it on He-Mans tiger.
We all freaked out and my friend started to cry.

30 years later we still talk about that episode over family dinner.

And now. Skeletor has the freaking power sword!!!!

Deceptive advertisement is a dick move.......and illegal

Smith got a lot of flak for doing that. He said it was suppose to be about He-man but he's apparently missing for most of the season.

And that’s fair. That's what I love about She-Ra. I knew it was something new and I loved it for what it gave me.

And a story about a fallen hero can be good too, if told right.

But this looks like a big pile of too many division in a LOST series and they needed some hype to get people interested

Honestly, I don't mind the idea of a story where He-Man vanishes for a bit and everyone else has to figure out how to pick up the pieces afterwards (It's not an original story, but I've always liked those types of stories when done well) But I do wish they were more up front about it being one of those types of stories as opposed to "Yeah, it's just He-Man punching dudes for 10 episodes straight" like they seem to be trying to market it as going off of the trailer.

Yes! Please give me what you advertise

I'm excited too! That 80's style translated into modern era looks fantastic!
It's like western jojo's part 1 aesthetic

1 month later

Okay... So I have watched it with an open mind.
It all feels like a standard RPG game with great action but no skip button between battles.
Everyone in here could write that story.

Not sure what I pressed there. Whoops.

Anyways, my partner and I watched the first episode and I’m not sure if we were supposed to be laughing that much. :sweat_02:

It felt like they crammed a lot in there and stuff was happening at super speed. Maybe it was always like that? I don’t remember :see_no_evil: and we couldn’t remember most of the cast either.

It does that all the way. No time to tell a good story. Just some crammed stuff with lost opportunity between some nice-looking battles.
No characters getting established, it is so poorly written that it hurts.

But Mark Hamill is a treat and the animations are stunning

I gotta say the flame wars over this happened because an insider leaked what "Masters of the Universe" was really about to a youtuber.

Well. As we have seen so many times in Hollywood, it doesn't matter if it was leaked or not. Fact is that they take a pre made lore, hype it to the old fans and kill the hero or sideline him, and this time even in the first episode.
That's gonna upset the hyped nostalgia fans no matter if it eas leaked or not.

Like hyping a brand new Spiderman movie, showing only great spiderman action. But when you see the movie it is all about aunt May and her side of the story, and she hates Spiderman and we only see Peter Parker when he is home. All the stuff from trailer is from aunt May when she sees the news and she is shaking her head.

If you want to make an alternative story for a new audience. Then make your ovn worldbuilding with your own characters or advertise that this is not for the old fans.

To be honest, I'm not a fan of what they did, normally I wouldn't mind a story being told through the experience of another character but they weren't very upfront about it.

My boyfriend and I discovered the preview by scrolling through Netflix and had no clue that a new He-Man series was even a thing so we went in completely blind. The preview showed epic battle scenes with the song "I need a Hero" which gave us a good laugh and got us hyped like "Oh yeah we are watching this!" We enjoyed about half of the first episode but the episodes afterward made us enjoy it less and less with Teela's attitude being one of the reasons. As a woman, I'm all for stories with female empowerment but to me, it just didn't feel like it was done right. One of the films I watched recently was WolfWalkers which also had this female empowerment element to it and in my opinion, it felt more natural and I really enjoyed the film but in the new He-Man it just felt forced.

Don't want to ruin the disappointment party, but imho it's very clear from the trailer it wasn't gonna be He-Man's story. Sure, they showed him all powered up and put on the I need a Hero song, but other than that it's pretty obviously gonna be a series about those gals (if you turn off your inner hype). I do agree it wasn't fair of them to give old fans the hype that wasn't going to pay off though, but it looks like it's becoming a usual practice :pumpkin:
