Hello! 100 sub poll for my webcomic

I don't know how to start this forum thread. I don't want to come across as promotion when it's not.

I asked around on the Tapas discord, some other webcomic discord servers for some advice. I am planning a 100 sub comic episode, Which I have been putting off for 2 years since due to job searching, failed study and health issues.

Some said to try and ask what people want from it. Since this kind of thing has been stressing me out, because I don't want to disappoint anyone with it. Or annoy anyone with it. So I hope this is okay. If it's not. Please tell me its not, just kind of nervous about it since I don't want to come across as annoing.

Anyways.

I am making a poll to try and get a gauge of people are wanting this story to be for it. I can't really decide myself but I am going by what people think I should try and do, and this was the only real thing I can come up with.

But as far as I am aware. People want a story for it. So uh, here it goes:

"If I was to write a short story for this special episode. Who should I write it about?"

I won't link the comic here, mostly because I don't people to get upset with me. But if their are comments of people wanting me to for context. I will. Im just feeling very self-concious about it ^^;

I don't know how many readers fry your audience are on this forum, so I will still recommend asking this directly in the comic... But honestly, it should probably be something you would like to draw? I mean it's you celebrating 100 subs, isn't it! If readers previously asked some questions and they were still unanswered, or there's some scene you wanted to draw for a long time, or maybe you just want to make a few funny doodles with the characters - it's the right time to make it!
I do hope you will get your answers though

I'd advise the same as Kelheor, either ask directly in the comic or choose something that you like the most from what people are expressing interest in in the comments.

100 is both a really big milestone (bravo for getting there! It's a really good start!) but also not that many people for a poll. Most polls only get a fraction of the audience to vote at the best of times, especially if most readers are mute, either just subscribing or subscribing and liking so you only nebulously know they're there and like something about your comic but don't know what.

I've tried doing polls like this on wattpad at similar numbers and the only real way to get answers is from posting within the story so that the people who are invested see it.

Also, it looks like you've already got a lot on your plate, I hope your health has improved, but if it hasn't, having the audience chose something you dont really want to do can stress you out unnecessarily and can compound everything else. It's nice to want to do what the audience wants, but they will all want different things and your health and wellbeing is paramount.

TL;dr do what's best for you, if you really want to poll your audience, try doing it in the place your audience is most present and vocal.

I haven't really been asked any questions about it. And id like to draw something for them since it's me thanking them for subscribing so I feel selfish doing what I want. Y'know?

I havent had anyone express interest or anything they want to know.
Yeah I figured its not much (even though Im at 173 and I still dont think its enough.) And yeah, I dont know what they like about it. But even if its for me I want to do something they want to actually see for a change.

Not to dive too much into it. But my health really hasn't. Waiting on surgery and it wont be for months. Webcomic is the only thing that helps with stress. So knowing what folks want for this seems selfish to ask since its something I want to do for people since its so important. Yknow?

Hey, it's ok, don't apologise when there's nothing to apologise for! You haven't hurt anyone ^^
I hope your surgery goes well when it happens and that everyone takes good care of you while you need it.

Also it's really not selfish to do something you want. If they're subscribed, then they likely want to see more webcomic and/or stuff to do with your webcomic ^^ It's important to remember too that "what the audience wants" is almost never going to be clear cut, you've got 173 people who've hit the button because they want to be notified for your comic updates, and they're potentially 173 different opinions on what they want to see, some of them more invested than others. Doing exactly what they want will sometimes get you into a place where you have to do the thing and its opposite at the same time.

Asking on the forums isn't a bad idea on its face, it has a polling option whereas within the comic doesn't, it just might not be the best place in this circumstance and posting directly in the comic itself will make sure more of the interested parties see it ^^ Don't hesitate to ask, and in the lack of an answer, do what makes you happy, and people will be happy, because you having fun does actually transpire into the piece itself. You've given a lot of thought and you're trying to ask them, you want to say thank you with a drawing in the first place which is a time commitment in itself, you're being a really nice person so don't beat yourself up about it :3

It's been pretty confusing lately because of how I feel. Fatigue, Gut pains with my intestines and stuff. Just been expecting an easy answer but it's been pretty split. Haha..

Seriously though, I appreciate the nice things you said. If I don't get any answers I suppose Ill draw what I want even though Ill feel bad doing it but. Just as long as I know people will like it then I suppose its okay.

Just might be a bit selfish of me to expect people to be excited for something so I can get that serotonin kick to my brain that I crave haha.
