Hello!

I am new to this, I have never made a comic before and I don’t really have a clue what I’m doing!

I don’t know how to advertise or promote myself, all I know is that I came up with a unique idea for a story and wanted to share it, I have been working on it for some time keeping it to myself and finally I have summoned the courage to publish a preview just to see if anyone would be interested...

I would really appreciate some advice! Some feedback on the very little I have published so far and even some constructive criticism would be fantastic!

I’m so excited too try and get to know people and be apart of this community, I hope you will have me!

Probably the most common thing:

Patience, enjoy what you do, never expect immediate fame. Some of the best and simple advice you can get. As long as you remain active, and promote your stuff in certain forum topics and social media people should find you. Your premise is already interesting so I don't see why you wouldn't do well.

Thankyou so much!

I think my biggest problem is confidence.
This is also another way for me to open up and talk to people who have simalar interests, no one in my life reads comics or manga etc...

I appreacaite your advice!
I will be sure to use it!

X

Mmmm don't know what I can say. You have a unique artstyle, your story sounds very interesting and you have a good grasp on storytelling, for what I saw in your preview. The spooky aspect worked! On technical aspects, your comic seem very readable even for mobile users. You have nothing to worry about (I subbed, btw). Welcome to the comic-making world!

I love horror and mystery , i'm having a mystery/horror series myself , i like your style , i subscribed and waitting to see more , can't say much about it cause you just starded maybe later i can critique , but i liked what i saw and i want to see more  keep me interested pls

Well the first thing about promoting, is don't. Not yet at least, yeah tell your friends and everyone, but wait to do any real promotion until you have a few pages (I've see it recommended as waiting until you have up to 20). Basically if your sending people to your comic and you only have one or two pages up they're going to read and forget about it, you want to make sure that you have enough for readers to get invested so they want to come back for more.
Once you're there, your best (free) promotion tool is going to be social media, Instagram, Tumblr, Facebook, Deviantart, Reddit, basically you just want to keep putting things out in front of as many people as you can. If you already have a following on social media, you pretty much have a built-in audience. There's a bit more subtlety to it, but basically just don't be annoying with it.
Also, I would advise against using that brushy typeface for anything other than titles.
Oh wait, I guess I have extra advice: remember that a comic is not just pictures with words on them. The lettering needs to be part of the composition. You seem to be pretty good with that, but it's one of the most common problems I see, so I figured I'd mention it.

Thankyou so much! Extremely helpful! I mainly wanted to see if people would be interested to see if it would be worth me continuing to post anything or if I should just keep it to myself, I didn’t consider that people would just forget about it with only one tiny preview page.
I completely agree! I will take your advice!

Also what do you mean by brushy face? Sorry my English is a bit off when it comes to phrases...

Thanks again! Truly appreciate your time!

For mobile, you tap the little flag thing on the top right of the comic screen. For PC, you click on "add to library"! But we advise you to only sub to comics that you really wanna read, because dead subs (subs that don't actually engage in the comic) prevent authors from getting into the trending page! You can search the forums for a better explanation, if you want to! Good luck on your comic!

just go to web-comic centric forums around the web and say, "Hey here's a comic about X, would you please check it out =D" and self promote a bit here and there, of course try to be tasteful with it, actually be part of the conversations or the community and don't just promote like a mad man. also here have an article for web comic promotion

these are just basic things hope it helps and good luck =P

The font you were using, when it comes to type you always want to preference readability over aesthetic. The average viewer is likely to take less than 1/10th of a second to decide if they're going to read your comic or not, and readability is going to play a role there.
