I'm not sure if it my imagination, but I have the thought of Ernest being the strict or grumbling type of character.
I can't see if the copper leg reach to the leg or more, however the idea of buying an expensive pant and then cut one of the leg off hurt my greedy money saving heart

He got it blown off after a mine accident. Also to answer your question how long it is. He has a false knee and then attaches the false leg with to it. So it’s knee length.
