something important to remember is that very simplistic, minimalist styles can be very compelling and tell great stories. at this point, prioritise 'can i tell a story with this' over 'is this the peak of my craft?' or even 'is this good?'
for now, eliminate the concept of good. you can entertain fundamentals and form and all that as much as you like, id recommend it too, but bear in mind that good is truly subjective, and you have the whoooole of shape language and colour theory to play with. from the sounds of it its not your goal, but you could choose to make a comic with intentionally hideous art, and it could be very very good.
re: simplistic styles, some examples:
the first is tom gauld's goliath, a critically acclaimed graphic novel with some really great and compelling storytelling, the second is calvin and hobbes, which is often very clever and has a style perfect for its purpose.
so, that aside, two big things i swear by. proko, and understanding comics.
proko is a youtube art teacher who does these really brilliant tutorials on drawing, starting from the very basics. his videos are worth watching and rewatching, hes super helpful for both beginners and seasoned pros (or, well, the various levels people are at on here anyway). understanding comics is a comic about comics by scott mccloud, reading it will give you lots of great ideas about not only how comics work, and cartooning, but also drawing and art in general. pay close attention to his chapter on cartooning, and any time he talks about the picture plane, thatll really help open up to you the range of what it is youre ~allowed~ to do.
remember, you can ask for feedback and advice here, and in many other art forums, and the most important thing is to get stuck right in. dont hold off from making a comic, even if its just a page, because you dont think youre good enough. whenever you start, whatever you start with will be kinda garbage by your own future standards. revel in that, have fun - so long as you keep playing and having fun (a lot of it, sometimes known as hard work), you will shoot up.
also, before you launch into a series, please please start with a short comic. 100 pages max. you dont wanna lock yourself into your first idea, you want to give yourself time to fuck about and up.
good luck man, ill be happy to give some feedback on any drawings you post here.
