When I was 13 I contracted H-pylori a rather common infection. But I lived in a rather rual area so it took 4 year for me to get diagnosed and treated. And then only after having to drive an hour out of town to the only childrens gastrologist near me who only came to my area once a month because he rotated between all the rual areas.
I could not keep anything down and continued to have issues. Doctors brushed me off saying that I developed IBS from the long exposure to H-pylori. I pushed myself to go to university and work full time, while being tired and about every couple of months i would not be able to keep any food down. My back hurt constantly and even my eye started acting up causing an episode of temporary blindness. This year it got so bad I couldn’t eat anything for two weeks. I was drinking boost and even threw that up. I lost over 50 pound in 6 months time. Everyone was so scarded but everytime I went to a doctor they minimizes it.
I lost my insurance and went to the free clinic, gave them a list of my symptoms and told them I am not playing around and I want to know what’s wrong. They told me to get a CT scan, and am now dignosed with Crohns.
So everytime someone complains at work about being tired or sick I just roll my eyes. I just threw up in the bathroom before my shift, my body isn’t absorbing iron or B12 (which makes me tired) and I am still getting more work done than them.
