I think it's pretty common, I hate-follow a couple of artists who take art to promote themselves. Like this "tattoo artist" (he's a fucking scratcher working from a kitchen but anyway) who takes other tattoo artist's tattoos and drawings and posts them in his page. He doesn't say they aren't his, nor does he give credit, and dumbass ghetto people don't know any better so they assume that's his stuff. I HATE the guy, I have reported his account a couple of times but he always comes back, it's like fighting cockroaches. * deep breaths!! * Anyway! If you wanna put your stuff out there, and you do more than decent art I would say be careful, people are assholes most of the time and will take advantage if they can. You can watermark your pictures and that way be safer (you can do this in photoshop or get an app for your phone, I'm sure they make those)
You can also sign your stuff really close to the actual drawing so cropping the signature out is impossible. If you don't wanna sign your art you can get a little piece of paper and sign that and just put it over the drawing, that way you have your signature and you can move it around without damaging the drawing and protecting it from theft.
