I study through all sorts of media. I look at other artist (old and new), video, life, photos references, tutorials, books....I went to college so I took life drawing, which was probably the MOST helpful. But I'll post my favorite links below if anyone is interested.

Well, there really isn't any trick to art. My professor said once art is 15% talent and 75% hard work. Really focus on learning anatomy, drawing still life, and learning the rules first. It will REALLY help your technique.
The only way you can get better is practice, practice, and more practice.
