okay buddy, this is my first post in tapas, so bear with me.
The subject you brought to the plate is background and there are like three main points you have to figure out from the get go
1- Perspective: This is like super important especially for any man made enviroment, if you want to get like an awesome look study and practice a lot the 2 Vanishing points perspective, that one is easy to understand and often used when setting an scene, You can twist the angle up or down but the principles are always the same.
2-Composition: What do you wanna to be framed, and what do you want the eye of the reader draw focus to, This has a lot to do with lighting and setting up the scene, If you have like no idea, try to look For how some comic artist use Solid black to block an scene, study the lighting and framing on movies, a good book on the subject is "framed Ink" by Marcos Mateu-Mestre
3-Arquitecture: This may be the hardest part to pull off, cause to make it right you need the other two to be concrete solid!, For this you can simply study the work of artist that achieve the aesthetic you want to portray, but study means, to understand why their arquitectonical designs work, Syd Mead is a good reference to begin with, also a lot of futuristic designs take a lot from movements like Art Deco and Brutalism.
