How do people accept payment and pay online?

well I wanted to ask for a payment for my comics online someday but I'm not really sure how does this online selling and paying works.

and I already know about paypal but I don't really know how to use it like how do I ask people to pay me using it, and how do they transfer it.

I hope someone could render me a bit about this topic or give me better advice for online selling and buying

How do you want to sell it? An eBook, just the pages online with no download, donations similar to patreon or actually ordering the physical book?

Over here on Paypal are instructions for creating one of those little "Buy Now!" buttons. The short version is, it involves you typing in information like how much you want the item to cost, and when you're done, Paypal gives you a bunch of code to copy. You copy the code, put it on your website, and that makes one of those little "Buy Now" buttons show up on your website, linked to your Paypal account.

If someone buys a thing from you using that button, then Paypal will take the money from them and transfer it into your Paypal account. It's possible to link your Paypal account to a bank account if you want to put the money in the bank.

That's the very basic version of how selling stuff through paypal works! If you're ordering something physical that you would ship out to a buyer, it gets a little more complicated since you have to worry about shipping stuff.

I've been using PayPal for well over 3 years, you basically create an account through an email that you connect to your bank account.
You can get your client to pay you by giving them you account email address and they'd just put in your email and the amount they'd like to send and that's it.

Paypal is probably the easiest kind of shop to set up and use. There are Solutions like Shopify that you can use (even make a shop on Facebook if you don't want your own website), but it costs a little bit every month, so I'd wrap my head around PayPal - they've made it a lot easier lately so read through the guide linked in previous post!

If you want to sell comics that are directly downloaded to the buyer, make sure you have a handle on VATMOSS and/or other tax rules applying to digital products.

If you're making money, you need to pay taxes, that's all! And then there are different rules for different countries + if you're selling downloadable PDFs to people in Europe there are special rules for that called VATMOSS - you need to
keep your customers on record and pay tax in their country. I've gotten rid of the problem by not selling downloadable PDFs or any other automated digital service, only hard copies. I didn't sell many digital copies before then either so it seemed more of a hassle to keep it than removing it.
