Quick question because i've seen it for a while. But from time to time i see people who have their support function unlocked, while their subscriber count is lower than 250.

Does someone know how they do it? Is it connected to Inksgiving?

Inksgiving yes. You will get a chance likely, to email a top person who has to manually go in and turn it on for you. It will then be forever turned on. It will not be ad support /funds. It is strictly the ability to earn $$$ through ink people give you and nothing else. You will still have to pass the 100+ thresholds.

Ok, thanks for your answer!
I don't think passing the 100+ will be a big problem for me eventually and i do have some plans for inksgiving so i'll probably ask for unlocking support around that moment

Boy...do you mind to drop some wisdom on this? Because I'm getting uterly depressed with my subscribiton rate. Not to mention my viewers.

Only Instagram save my day and it's not so popular like that... which is even more sad.

5 subscribers over 2 months (few but good by the way!), 40 pages published (45 next sunday). It is almost like the world is saying: Stop! Go do something else....

If you'll look at his comic, DualDragons is posting for 9 months already, he had huge progress in art since the first page, he also still has 44 subs. So it's not that his comic is booming, but it's good steady growth. I posted for a year and a half on Tapas until I came to forum with 30something followers (38 probably), some of them my friends. So you really need to brace yourself and have some patience if you really want to do it ^^

So have you been posting for two months? Or more?

I have been posting for almost two years on Webtoons now, as @Kelheor said i've been on Tapas for about nine months now (my anniversary on Tapas is in the same week as my birthday hehe).

And i have been on webtoons for over two years now (with a failed project due to my laptop crashing which only had 14 subs in three months anyway).

Personally i think readers want to read long-story comics that actually already have a large amount of pages posted. From time to time i see long-term comics that stop in three or four episodes because the author gives up due to lack of instant popularity. It was when i began having a larger amount of pages that people started subbing a bit more. Although i would like some more interaction :sweat_01:

My advice: just keep going and be patient, but if you really feel like it's a drag to make pages everytime then i would reconsider it. But i'll advise against the idea of stopping because of a lack of subscribers and interaction.

This is very much true. I actually got more subs during my between chapter break in Splitting Image than during the prologue - people really liked having 10 whole pages to read instead of going over one at a time, and right now it's way more common to get one or two a week exactly because there's a lot to catch up with. And yes, the matter of time in general is pretty big too.

I read somewhere once when I was just starting that it can take up to three years for a webcomic to take off in popularity.
Even then I think there's still a lot of luck involved, even if you're good at marketing. I've been doing my comic for barely two years, and I'm only at 46 subs here on Tapas.

In my opinion this is where it's important to be doing a comic for the sake of oneself. I intend to keep going even if I never break 50 subs. I'm invested in telling my comic's story, followers and fans are just a bonus.

A lot of it has to do with luck too. My comic has been around for I think two years now and we were lucky enough to get staff picked a few times which is what helped boost us up so quickly. Without those I'd probably still be around 500 subs idk

No. It has not been announced yet.
Likely in October, but there are no promises.

Ohhh in October? Thanks again for letting me know
And then we have to send an email for Michael requesting for the support option to be unlocked right?
I wonder...

They will let you know, But again, there are no promises they will 1. host the event again, or 2. host it in October., and 3. the "rules" have not been changed by then.

This thread and information in it is all from last year, and prior.

Ohhh I see. Thanks a lot for your information . I truly appreciate it. I still have a lot to learn about inksgiving and your information was really helpful.

well, I have around 50 subs within 1 week of uploading and I didn't take that long too. I didn't know it took so long until I read your comments. Now I feel a little proud of myself.

@ratique could you close this thread? Due to inksgiving last year I already have support enabled so there is no need for this thread anymore.
