So I just got off about an 8-9 month hiatus for my comic! I had another big project I was working on at the time (an animation) and decided that in order to meet a deadline for it, I would put the comic on hold. Well I finished the animation a little while ago and went right back into the comic and although it wasn't difficult to get back into the swing of things, I realized some of my style and design preferences had changed over that time.
The way I was drawing felt more fast and loose, lines of dialogue I liked before ended up being changed, and even certain panel designs became scrapped for something more lively or dynamic. I just thought it was interesting to compare my design mentality before and after the hiatus, and think about why it might have changed. The animation project I worked on during this time no doubt had a large impact on this, but it makes me wonder what smaller things might have played some kind of role in the change?
I'll leave a link to my comic below if anyone's interested, but for those of you who have experienced hiatuses like this, what's it like coming back? Do you notice any significant changes in your style or design philosophy? If you have new perspectives upon returning, does it make you feel unsure about the quality of your past works?
