How do you find new comics to read?

I thought this would be a fun and informative topic for everyone. Basically how many comics are you currently subbed to, how many do you follow regularly and how do you look for new ones to sub to? I think it's interesting to learn how people on tapastic find comics so we might each figure out how to make sure our own works get seen by anyone who may be interested.

Also everyone recommend one comic that's not your own!

I take recommendations from friends as they generally already have an idea of the kind of stuff I already like. If not I mighhhhhhht check out a comic from the forums, but very rarely do I sub.

I mean I try to keep my sub count below 100 to realistically keep up with works, but if I'm going to be real I regularly keep up with maybe 6 of them upon uploads and binge others when I have the time to. I do unsub if a comic isn't going anywhere or is mostly dead. I keep my library of subs open so people can view it and get an idea of the kind of comics I like to read and support.

I mostly read some comics that happened to be mentioned on the forum that look interesting to me. Others I find because I'm looking for something specific, some I find because I look at people's profiles, and a couple I found because I saw the creator's YouTube channels. It's pretty straightforward, but it works for me.

i'm sub to over 100. Normally I just check under both the trending and fresh section with all genres selected(some reason its on the defult of romance) and then just browse for what catches my eye.

Sometimes I click a tag I find interesting and just check what comics fall under it.

As for my recommendation I recently found this comic I'm in love with.

Since I'm an infrequent and slow reader, most of my new comic additions come by way of recommendations by friends or folks here on the forums (for both tapas and webtoons tbh). I have a bad habit of discovering and subscribing to lots of cool comics but never getting far in them Sometimes I just browse genres I like and see what pops out too. Just today I found a comic in the "Gaming" Genre on Tapas that had a really cool art style so I subbed just to check that out! Read the first ep... we'll see when I get to the other 3 and beyond lol...

Edit: durr I can read, I swear! I'll recommend the comic mentioned above that I stumbled upon today!

When I'm on the hunt I go to the fresh section and see what catches my eye from both the thumb and the description (because I like reading novels, too, and you can't tell a novel from the thumbnail at all) and if it looks unique and in a genre I like (usaully fantasy/sci fi/horror) I'll click. The search is horrible so I almost never use it. Tried to find sports comics and had like...nothing sports pop up (even if I put in "swimming" or "tennis" it was just...so much BL and no sports) so I made a forum thread asking for people's sports recommendations and that worked well (I also made a thread looking for novels and that was also really great--found some good ones through that). Also if I see a person hanging out on the forums I'll usually look at their comic/novel, even if they don't promote. I'll just sneakily click on their profile to see what they're doing, even if I don't end up subbing because I...forgot...or just didn't. Honestly I'd be subbed to more people if Tapas...made it easier to find the sub button. If it was bigger or...a different color or something...

I check a few of the features at the front if it looks interesting, Fresh when I'm kinda bored, and recommendations from social media. If the comic has ended or has big chances of returning and I really like it, I stay subbed, but otherwise abandoned or finished comics I don't think about anymore I remove from my library eventually. My library slowly gets bigger but, so far, I can kinda keep up and Tapas makes it easy to go back a few pages to refresh on info.

Awww. that's sweet. i occasionally do that too. and yeah not a fan of the new tapastic layout, but slowly getting used to it

I'll preface my response with the fact that I'm way behind on my current reading list and trying my best to avoid burnout but I still actively try to keep up with most of what I follow. That said

I think I'm following around 1000 comics, more or less depending on who still is or isn't on the platform or updating anymore (i've watched the number dip into the 900s then bounce up but usually around 1k)

Typically I'd be able to keep up with 50 or so comics at a time but that was when i had free time (and my backlog wasnt at the mighty number of 250+ like it is now)

When I was actively looking for comics (and even now where i'll passively look for new reads) it's usually between the forums, trending/popular and staff picks. Sometimes I'll peek into fresh but not a lot of it catches my eye (i'm picky or something) I feel like i used to go through frsh more often back in the day but that was a different era of tapas when i think about it. I also had an active moot here on tapas that would send suggestions of new folks and I'd follow a lot back then but I haven't gotten those in ages :')
