You can use a cloud, like Google Drive or the like, like @Rhonder and @Iris-Grimoire said.
I personally prefer to use the wire of my charger, since it has a USB connection that let's you both connect to the charger and to the computer. If not, the phone should come with a wire apart to connect with your laptop. And as a side note, I found out the wire of my wacom tablet also works, may you try with what you have at home.
If you got a wire to connect, the moment you do it, in your phone it should appear a set of options in the notifications where you can set to charge, transfer archives and transfer pics (PTP) (I haven't used this last one, dunno for what exactly is). You switch from charge battery to transfer archives, and now you can access the folders of your phone through your laptop as you would do with any pendrive. You can drop there the pic, I use to leave it in the Camera folder.
