For any creators here on Tapas that also use Patreon to support their work, how is yours set up and what do you provide to others who support you there as a backer?
I'm asking this so if anyone wants to start their own Patreon, they can at least have tips on what they could provide to their backers.

patreon is actually really really helpful with setting up; theyll hold your hand and give you tips through the whole thing. the better you do, the better they do, so theyll give you every leg up when you start the process.

the first, baseline prize most ppl give on patreon is early pages. its a really good incentive, and highly indicative of your Proper fans. its also nice to have someone looking at your work; i can get pretty fed up with buffer pages wasting away in a folder somewhere, waiting to see the light.

beyond that, people give commissions, spoilers, character sheets, self insert background characters, self insert side characters (thats where it gets pricey), backgrounds, stickers, pdf's... honestly, its very much a case of whatever you can think of. if someones patreon pays monthly more than what youd charge them for a print copy, then free print issues is a good prize.

an important element is to promote, a tonne. with your add banner, make posts abt it, remind people what theyre in for if they back you. the patreon icon like, wherever you want it (not on actual pages.) you may worry its obnoxious but typically its not, because the fans understand the hustle and want you to do well, so even if they cant support you financially, they wont complain about you asking (generally, not directly approaching people. that depends on how u know em and how much cahonies ya got)
