I've been on tapastic for around 5 years now and the thing that got me going was being unique/finding a niche market. For me, since I was around when the website just started, it was animated comics. I believe I was one of the first artists on tapastic to do a fully animated comic. I was young, I didn't upload a lot, my art was pretty average back then. In fact, I didn't understand the concept of tags, community events or anything like that. But simply because the comic was fresh it got people to like it.
Now-a-days the market is so saturated with comics that sort of "unique" idea just isn't possible anymore. you need to balance both being a popular, relatable (really good) comic while also having something special. The other way is just to simply have amazing art (but that's difficult to maintain in a comic circumstance.)
My later comics had a bit of a head start because I had past followings on my past comics, but even my new comic that was only on webtoons (so very little past backing) got a good start right off the bat. it might have just been luck. I've had a good run with all my comics. But I think it's 1) good marketing/branding (make sure you're comic looks good in the icon banner etc, good description/blurb) 2) consistency (you don't need to post every 2 days. but post on a consistent routine. people like that. and if they see you have recently posted they are more likely to subscribe) 3) relatable. I think that what really gets a lot of people going especially a 4 coma "comedy" style comic like yours is being relatable. make that main character what everyone one else goes through.
sorry this is long. good luck!
