How similar are your MCs appearances, interests, personalities, tastes etc.?

I'll start with the female leads from two of my novels "Damsel in the Red Dress" and "A Dozen Morning Glories."

Alicia's appearance/body type is this:

Essence looks like this (except that her skin is not shaded here)

Alicia is very short, very curvy, a little chunky, and though you can't tell from the sketch, she's cinnamon brown. She has extremely long (down to her knees) curly hair, somewhere around 3b-3c in texture. A round nose, thick eyebrows, a round face, rather large eyes with long doll-ish lashes, and full lips.

Essence is tall, very thin, without nearly anything in the way of curves, and (though you also can't tell from the picture) her complexion is canonically nearly literally black. She had medium length hair which reaches a bit past her shoulders when cornrowed, and it's 4C in texture. She has a round nose, but it's broader than Alicia's. Her eyebrows are about average, but leaning toward thin, a more square face, though both have small faces, she has very sharply slanted, slightly sleepy eyes, and she has full lips as well. Her lashes appear long, but that's just makeup lol. Naturally they are average length and thickness, but they do naturally stand out distinctly from each other.

Pretty different looks wise. I'd give them an 8/10 difference ranking aesthetically.

Personality-wise, Alicia is very emotion-centered and driven. She feels very strongly and let's her emotions guide and control her at times. Essence feels nothing.

I rank this as a 9/10 difference, because both of them do still suffer from depression, which is a guiding factor for their responses to the world.

Careers:

Alicia is a painter and Essence is a developmental editor for romance novels.

Since they both work in creative fields based on fancy and whimsy, and are considered very talented/skilled in their work arenas, I'll rank them a 3/10 difference.

Interests and tastes:

Alicia is really into painting, poetry, and old music. She loves the color red, and other vivid warm colors, baked goods, and physical affection.

She spends most of her days lounging around her house if she isn't painting, texting or visiting her friends, or going to work with a museum, magazine, journal, etc. Or arranging schedules with her agents.

Essence spends all day working. No hobbies. Most of her days include working on the novels she edits, but she also buys groceries for her mother and washes and braids her mother's natural hair for her, since her mother can't care for this herself. She doesn't wear really vivid colors because she finds them garish against her complexion. She tends to stick with darker and muted blue tones. She doesn't have much taste in food, but sweet foods are a little less pleasant for her because they coat her tongue oddly often times and physical sensations are one of the few she can still feel, however dulled. She also doesn't like being touched.

i'll rank them a generous 3/10 match here.

I'll replace these images of the leads with better ones when I can make some better art XD. For now, do you think there are any comparisons I should add? Suggest your own character comparisons and compare the characters from your stories that play comparable or equivalent roles in their respective books (antagonists, male leads, female leads, best friends, parents, etc.)

...Just have to look like devil horns lol I have no originality. 3 different villains, same hairstyle

But aesthetics are only one level. How do their personalities compare to each other?

Now to compare Alicia and Leia:

Well this is still Alicia lol

This is Leia

Alicia is very short, very curvy, a little chunky, and though you can't tell from the sketch, she's cinnamon brown. She has extremely long (down to her knees) curly hair, somewhere around 3b-3c in texture. A round nose, thick eyebrows, a round face, rather large eyes with long doll-ish lashes, and full lips.

Leia is tall for her gender (and still growing) starting the story at 5'7. She's pretty curvy, inverted triangle-wise, but she doesn't have a lot in the way of hips (though since she's on the chunkier side, the weight makes her look a bit curvier), so she's not an hourglass the same way Alicia is. She IS chunky, as mentioned before, and also gaining weight over the course of the story (it's plot related) and she's pretty fair, which would probably be considered pale, since she doesn't have a lot of healthy rosiness to her face either. She has pretty long hair (reaching a little past her shoulder blades) and it's probably about 2B in texture, so also not a match. Her nose is aquiline, here eyebrows are thin, her face is naturally oval shaped, but is rounded out because of her weight. Her eyes are average size, but she tends toward a sleepier expression, like Essence, because they are both legitimately tired all the time. Her lashes aren't that long, but she does sometimes wear makeup to make them look longer. She doesn't have very thick eyelashes or full lips.

So I'd give them an 8/10 difference ranking aesthetically as well.

Personality-wise, Alicia is very emotion-centered and driven. She feels very strongly and lets her emotions guide and control her at times. Leia is also very emotionally driven, feeling very strongly, but she doesn't have the same tendency to be overwhelmed by her emotions to the point where she struggles to function the way that Alicia is, and she leans toward believing the worst of people rather than hoping for the best unless proven otherwise.

I'll give them a 7/10 match. They do share an MBTI type.

Alicia is a painter. Leia is unemployed because she's a high school student, but she does write comics for fun which a friend of hers illustrates, so I'll rank that as an 8/10 match.

Leia really likes reading books, riding her bike, and playing with her cat. She likes rock and emo music, she likes the colors green and black best, and she's not very affectionate at all.

She spends most of her day at school or trying to avoid being in her parents line of sight, so she doesn't actually lounge around very much. And (again for plot related reasons) she rarely texts or visits or friends or 'hangs out' in any way.

I'll give them a 2/10 match.

Azure and Caramella Red have pretty similar experiences, so there are interests that they both like. For example, they are both pretty knowledgeable and interested in weapons, fighting strategies, and the likes. But Azure is interested in literature, while Caramella Red loves visual arts more. In terms of personalities, Azure keeps to himself more, though his thoughts are loud and tend to have dry humour, while Caramella Red was raised to be more social (stereotypical gender roles still exist in this world im sorry ;-; ) but more because of her being some kind of princess in the Empire.

Curious about the Poppy Contract? Find more about it in this chapter released just this week in Letter Addressed To The Fire!

Letter Addressed To The Fire is a story told in letters, diaries, journals, documents, and the likes, aside from the main characters' thoughts. It is a story about prodigies of rival groups finding solace in one another without knowing who the other really is. It is a bittersweet story that speaks about finding gentleness amidst a cruel world.

Thank you!

Now for the male leads of "Damsel in the Red Dress" and "A Dozen Morning Glories"

This is Kattar

This is Dominic

Kattar is 5'9, pretty thin, because he's not in the best health now, but before he was hospitalized, he was fairly toned, but not particularly muscular. He's got a peanut butter complexion and long (past his shoulder blades) black hair, about 2a in texture, a sharp nose, thick eyebrows, a pretty, oval-shaped face, and slanted, monolid eyes, with pretty thick lashes.

Dominic is 5'5, buff (built like a tank honestly), and a cinnamon brown complexion. His hair is black and on the longer side of short, but not super long. Also about 2a in texture. He has a small, round nose. average eyebrows, and a short, round face, and hooded eyes.

So I'll give them a 6/10 difference ranking.

Personality-wise, Kattar is very teasing and playful, but his lightheartedness is rather deceptive. He has smiling depression, and spends quite a lot of time analyzing every situation and planning out his decisions weighing their risk to reward before he tries to do anything, despite the appearance of being care free. He's very afraid of losing everything.

Dominic is also very cheerful and willing to be a little more flirtatious early on in his relationship than Kattar is, because he's not really afraid of much of anything. He does think about things before he does them, but he also chooses to take life as it comes and tries to make the best of every situation. He basically is as he appears to most people, and is genuinely happy. He's not super afraid of losing things that matter to him, but he does struggle with being unwilling to let go of the things he loves, even when they're not good for him.

I'll give them a 5/10 match.

Careers:

Kattar starts off the story as a stunt driver, but after being paralyzed starts working in video editing. Both these careers he made his own way in, as he'd never ask his mother for help getting a job.

Dominic works at his grandfather's convenience store to help his family out, as his dad has another job to focus on, and his granddad is no longer in any condition to work.

Job match 0/10

Interests and tastes:

Kattar loves action movies, video games, and rock music. He likes the color pink, isn't a fan of sweet things or cooking, and while he likes physical affection from certain people, it makes him rather uncomfortable until he gets used to it.

Dominic loves reading, though he watches movies occasionally with his sisters, and he does like action movies, but not super violent ones, like Kattar watches. He likes music from musicals and musical-like albums (like "Epic:The Musical.") he loves all flavors of food, and cooking. He also likes origami and making flower arrangements out of origami. He and Kattar share a love for flowers, so that's a match. Dominic also loves physical affection, and is not uncomfortable with it at all.

4/10 match here.

Time to compare Leia to Essence

Leia (I have a better drawing of her now, yay!)

Essence (but without her skin shaded)

Leia is tall for her gender (and still growing) starting the story at 5'7. She's pretty curvy, inverted triangle-wise, but she doesn't have a lot in the way of hips (though since she's on the chunkier side, the weight makes her look a bit curvier), so she's not an hourglass. She IS chunky (plus-sized) as mentioned before, and also gaining weight over the course of the story (it's plot related) and she's pretty fair, which would probably be considered pale, since she doesn't have a lot of healthy rosiness to her face either.

I'll give them a 3/10 match for their sleepy eyes, sparse lashes and thin eyebrows, and height. But basically not a match at all in most other ways.

Personality:

Leia is very emotionally driven, feeling very strongly, but she's usually able to control her emotions to keep them from overwhelming her to the point of affecting her functionality. She leans toward believing the worst of people rather than hoping for the best unless proven otherwise.

Essence feels nothing, but she does value functionality and pushing through no matter how bad she feels physically. She generally believes...better? of other people as a coping mechanism, determining that the things they've gone through justify their bad behavior.

They are both extremely exhausted and depressed with savior syndrome, but Leia is also paranoid, which Essence is not.

So I'll rank them as a 5/10 match.

Careers:

Essence is a developmental editor for romance novels.

Leia is unemployed because she's a high school student, but she does write comics for fun which a friend of hers illustrates, so I'll rank that as a 7/10 match.

Interests and tastes?

Essence spends all day working. No hobbies. Most of her days include working on the novels she edits, but she also buys groceries for her mother and washes and braids her mother's natural hair for her, since her mother can't care for this herself. She also doesn't like being touched.

Leia really likes reading books, riding her bike, and playing with her cat. She likes rock and emo music, she likes the colors green and black best, and she's not very affectionate at all.

So dark colors are a match. Leia also tends to prefer savory foods most of the time, though her taste for food is growing less and less throughout the novel for plot reasons, so that's a bit of a match too. Rock music is a no for Essence because she's very sensitive to noise.

I'll rank them a 5/10 match here too

Let's see here:

Mora's body type is pretty muscular, pretty rectangular built, with a very dark complexion, vitiligo causing purple patches on her skin and in her hair, which is naturally wavy.

Not a lot like any of my previous female leads.

personality-wise, she is pretty self-centered and reclusive, which is very different from most of my female leads. While Mora interacts with people often, she doesn't really open up to or connect with them as much as she can help it. Essence is reclusive, but she is much more self-sacrificing than Mora.

Career-wise, Mora has no job, she's 15. But she WANTS to be a professional runner.

Interests and tastes: Mora likes high school/school themed novels, running and beauty magazines, trying popular hair styles, etc. Not a lot like any of my other female leads either.
