How does one get noticed on webtoons

Well, networking more or less just starts with talking with each other. Sometimes, it can do with comics, but others times, it can do with other topics that are interesting. It kinda has a bit to do with socializing and getting to know other people and how they approach the comic scene in their own way.

For my experience, I started with talking about the lore of my comic, but also being interested in what others are doing as well. Afterwards, we began to bounce ideas back and forth, offer each other some suggestions. Then, we started to gush over each other's characters or characters from franchises we liked together.

I won't say that networking ends with friendships all the time or that it will always help with promotion. But I can say that it helps with presenting yourself. There's no real requirement for this (other than not being an ass). Just offer what you can to other artists, express what you like and want to improve on your work, things like that.

I started doing this when I was on Deviantart, but I left that for these forums. Nowadays, I mostly interact with posts artists provide on Twitter and Tumblr. You don't have to dive in too deep either. Comments here and there help to build up

Simplest answer is to have an attractive and CLEAN art style.

I've seen comics with great art not make it far because it was simply too busy in every panel and it made it hard to read in a flowing manner.

Art is the initial magnet for many. After that, we stick around for the story.

Another tip is execution. Readers nowadays have so many webcomics to pick from that they can't afford the time to read them all. You need to impress quickly and early on in the storyline to retain those readers for the long run. I know many have long epics I'm mind or simply have a storytelling style that is a "slow start" but lemme tell ya, if you care about the numbers and only the numbers, you need your story to hit fast and hard.

Thanks I feel like this is good advice I know some stories are just hit or missed but I actually have some ppl engaging with this though its not a big audience so I dont want to up on it just yet but of course I'll considering keeping myself open to coming up with different stories and plots and not marriaging one comic

I have done zero marketing or advertising for my webtoon and still managed to get over 500 subs (ironically I havent broken 100 here on Tapas).

I am finding though updating at specific times of the day and the day you update has some affect of sub counts but really tbh as a few people mentioned above, a lot of it is building your following outside the platform and then pulling people to it.

IMO the single absolutely most important thing is honestly, having a good icon. There's a lot more varied advice but in my experience your icon is your most powerful asset. If your icon isn't good, no one will click it in the first place to see all the other aspects of your comic.

try to network with self-promotion. Give genuine compliments without expecting a compliment in return. Little things like this help.

it seems to be in this order:
1st as @graveweaver said, thumbnail. If your thumbnail isn't effective no one will even click on to open up your comic. There's a reason bl creators put a bl tag on their thumb, it helps them attract their target audience.
2nd is what @Kimoisempai said. your opening and art need to make a good impression.
3rd is your current sub count/hearts. if you manage to break a thousand you get an icon, and basic mob mentality will get people to check out your comic

after that, its a matter of having a decent story to maintain your subs.

if you dont have these aspects, you'll need to rely on being recommended by either other creators, or the platform itself. if you do have these aspects you may still need to rely on others recommending you. The site has a lot of comics, sometimes its just hard to be seen.

I think your artwork isn’t quite there yet but the more you do it the better it’ll get so try not to sweat it too much.

But usually there’s very little you can do in the way of promoting if the problem is something like that. You just gotta keep on workin it out.

I'm just starting off and trying to get the hang of digital art so I know I have alot of room to grow in that aspect. I do my comic with a basic graphic tablet. I just went ahead and jumped into it because I knew if I waited to be really great in the art aspect I'd likely never even get started. But I came across your comic hell phone on discover and subscribed to it I really like you art style even left some comments a couple of times.

I study body poses by looking at sketches on Pinterest. You might want to practice drawing hands and stances while you are making comics. It has helped me even though I don't do a long action web series.

I think you put together a pretty good list! Some people have also mentioned using outside marketing/social media but that, too, is hit or miss.

I am the Co-creator of Parallel Passings, which is posted on both Webtoons and Tapas. Though Webtoons is doing much better than Tapas... We have been on staff picks and at the time of posting, we are currently on the discover/canvas recommended titles. So, yeah.

After reading through these comments I feel alot better about where I stand with my webtoon. I just began publishing my first ever “comic” and was feeling pretty discouraged but seeing others feel the way I do at least I know I’m not the only one out there. Hopefully we all get seen eventually!!! Also I’m not sure what tapas is can someone explain? The format of this site is kind of confusing for Me. Not even sure if I’m commenting in the right section tbh
