How fast do you write?

Tapas seems to have more of a professional-oriented community...that is to say, people who've been in the rodeo for years are easier to find here than in other places I've been. So I think this might be a good place to get perspective on this question.

How fast do people normally write? So far, I've been able to consider myself extremely fast. The first novel I published here was 8,747 words, and I wrote it in 10 days. In the month that followed, I wrote two sequel novels, each one longer than the last. I'm currently working on the last chapter of the third book. =D

During that month (dang, July) I also started scripts for two new comic series, two new novels, and of course, I've been doing the usual polishing and editing on my ongoing comic scripts.

So, whaddaya think? Is this as insane as I've been made to believe, or just a normal month in any writer's life? How fast do YOU write?

EDIT: It seems that, in comparison to most of y'all, I'm actually a rather slow writer. ^^; I hope I'm at least a good one...

I write fast! Especially since I'm trained in touch-typing.
I can cram out 1000-2000 words in an hour with suitable motivation - that means I can get 8000 words done in a day if I get my morning coffee. Obviously I try to proofread and redraft but sometimes I just drabble.

I am manic depressive tho so it's not often I can write that much without getting fatigued

Writing comics is a little different than novels, but I completed a full 52pg script in three days recently.

I've also done a finished script of 143 pages in length, then edited it down to 90 pages and had it ready for my editor to read in two months. When my editor got back to me that the story was good but not what we needed I was REALLY frustrated ... but she was right. After that I banged out an entirely new script for our live read-through in three weeks.

At my fasted, I did a little over 5K a day, but that wasn't super good for me.
I'm mostly comicking instead of writing these days, but when I am writing, it's closer to 1K, or editing and cutting more than I write.

Sometimes I write 2k words an hour.

For me it all depends on motivation and if I know exactly where the story is going and how it will get there. Sometimes everything just flows and I can get five chapters done in one sitting (roughly three hours, but I don't always check what time I start and finish). Other times (when I'm not motivated) it's like pulling teeth and it takes just as long to get a hundred words that I'm happy with.

I think the fastest I've ever been was when I did a roughly 15,000 word story from start to finish in two days.

It depends on my work/life schedule for the week.

One year I did over 300k words for NaNoWriMo (my local group was so pissed at me lol) but other years I barely cracked the 50k.

I've been known to easily write an insane amount when inspired (between me and my cowriter, we once finished a 60k novel in a day, and its 70k sequel in the two days following) but I've also not written for three months or struggled to get a chapter out while sitting staring at my blank screen at a coffee shop for three hours.

When I'm character motivated, I write insanely fast. When I'm pushing for update deadlines... not so much...

If writing speeds could be categorized and represented using different animals, I'd be the Three-Toed Sloth from Zootopia. At my fastest, I write 14k words a chapter, and at my slowest...3...one of which is probably a typo.

Overthinking is my biggest fault, but I would hope the quality of my writing shows from the amount of time I take to think about stupid stuff. I'm not Shakespeare, but you won't catch me writing any Spanglish like I used to in my Wattpad days. At least, I hope.

Edit: The amount of time it took me to write this post is something I'm actually ashamed of.

It depends on what kind of time I have and my general mood and if I'm distracted. But I can easily do a good 1000 in less than an hour but I typically get distracted so I end up doing 1000 in two hours and just get happy having finished one or two chapters a day.
