How long do you think your story/comic will be?

My current series will be 14-15 full episodes (or almost 200+ individual episodes since each episodes are two pages). I'm barely halfway there. I started in June 2020 and will finish on June 2024. It updates two pages a week with breaks in between full episodes.

I'm currently developing and writing a webcomic/graphic novel which will come out in 2-4 years or longer to ensure quality.

My comic is a slice of life with each episode being separate not connected to the rest. So, we will see. It depends on how much ideas I have and if I ever want to start more of a story based comic.

I believe my novel version of Inferior shall last around a year or two, while the comic version of the same story will last maybe 3 for four. That of course is not taking in consideration of breaks or a slow update schedule.

Fortunately were condescending one of the major eras, Primis, into a single chapter. However, considering that I'll be doing around 6-7 eras total on a monthly release schedule, I'd imagine to get through everything it would likely take a few decades before I can call Descendants of Ether finished.

Were starting slow, but gaining some serious momentum!

I don't have a specific length because my main story is a serial with a ton of world building x intricate character plots. I do have the three major arcs planned though along with an ending to the story. Still though... L O N G

"Mega-Egypt" is not as long, however! Will be three volumes. A trilogy.

Most of my stories rang from about 12000 words to 20000 words, but I have done closer to 50-60000 on a couple. But I tend to do books that are 12- 20 chapters long.

I prefer Quality over quantity so I don't focus as much on word count as I think other people do. I'm aware that some people may see shorter books as a waste of time, but honestly there are a thousand reasons why a person may not pick up your book. All I can do is tell my best story.

Now in terms of how long it takes me to write a book, I try to write at least 1000 words a day. I edit each chapter as I finish them, and then I edit my complete story as a whole after I'm done. Still, I have to admit sometimes things take time. I can't always power through a chapter, and that's because sometimes ideas need time to develop into something good.

I think I wrote one book in less than a month before, but I wrote another over the course of an entire year simply because it had a lot of complex ideas I needed time to incorporate respectfully.

36+ chapters in full-fledge story.
(when first draft was done in 2015 I thought i could finish it in 15 chapters )

I do wish to be able to trim the story into much shorter like 30 chaps, but I can't (yet)-- It'll miss some key elements and ruin the sweet pacing.

Just need to pick up the 'work' pace if i want to be able to finish it in 9 years.

I have at least 12 chapters planned for Spirit Caller, and I know what I want to do for its ending. So depending how things go I'll add more chapters as each one is a somewhat self contained story. So If I need to take a break or something its not left in limbo.

Thank you. Twas an excellent question and really helped put some things into perspective for me. I actually talked to my artist today about where the story will go in the future and mentioned that we could potentially write the whole thing over again from the perspective of a different timeline. So theoretically, DoE could go infinite.

My current novel I started writing in August last year, and it's actually only 2 chapters away from completion! I started drafting its plans in June, so it's a bit whacky for me considering it took me 7 years to write the script for my comic!! (which is currently on indefinite hiatus though)

Planned ahead. We're looking at the end of the year so we can start working on another isekai project by the end of the year. That's for Season 1. Season 2 (the final one) will be done by next summer.

It's a very short project. I see Season 1 having thirty episodes.

My longest one is almost 3 years old. Currently in CH 4. I have an end goal, but I have to go over some things before that can be achieved. And not to mention I haven't give enough screen time to all of the characters. So right now I really have no idea how long it will be.

JUDAS SIGHED wasn't supposed to be my main comic, but, well...

When I realized that it was the one I really liked, I orginally planned for each chapter (autumn, winter, spring, summer) to be about 100 pages. Now that I'm working on page 100 of Autumn, I think that roughly 200 pages is more realistic for each chapter.
They each have a beginning, middle, and end already set - and I try to outlnne way ahead of where I am in thumbnails so that I'm able include foreshadowing and such. Really hoping to keep each chapter below 300 pages because wow, printing that...

My comic - mind the warnings, please !

I have the entire script done, and it ended up being 190 pages long.

10 pages of script ended up being 60 pages that took around 3 months to complete. RIP. The comic ended up much longer than I planned, but whatever, I love the story and characters so I'm happy to spend years on it.

There's 22 chapters total, and I tend to make them pretty long.

So I'm betting 1000 pages minimum.

I'm not the kinda person to take 10 years to finish a story, I think I could close my webcomic decently by 2023 max
