On a normal page of Behind the sofa I write, draw ink, colour and layout the text within 4 hours However the current story I am working on. a page can take a couple of hours to work out the layout and rough in pencils, a couple of hours to tighten and ink , 3 or 4 hours to colour and an hour for text. so somewhere between 7 or 8 hours a page
sounds like a lot of time and its exacerbated by only having a couple of hours a day to work on comics. but i pre plan a lot. I work pages out first on folded paper, checking how well the flow is working. i then re sketch digitally before tightening and inking so in effect, i am penciling each page twice
the current chapter i am working on I am thinking about batching up tasks, like drawing /inking all the pages in one go before colouring them . it might speed up production a little.
