How long does one panel take you? Show an example!

I know lots people only really think in pages, but what goes onto the page can really add up. So, if you're so inclined, post a single panel you made that you're relatively proud of and please tell me...

1. How long did it take to sketch/pencil it?

2. How long did it take to ink it?

3. How long did coloring take?

4. How long did that panel take in comparison to the rest of the page/ chapter/ episode?

That all really depends on what's going on in the panel. The more detail and technical skill required to complete the panel, the more time.

The first panel of the is page took a shorter time to sketch(the first time around) over the second panel. The inking and coloring took longer because I had to work on the perspective and figure out the water and ice effects. This page took a while for me to do just because of the first panel. I would avoid it and continually didn't come back to working on this page just because of the first panel. In total, I think this page took me about 7 hrs: 2 hrs sketching('cuz I had to come back and re-sketch), 2 hrs lining, ~3 hrs coloring and shading

For me it depends on whether a panel requires action, a fullbody character or a more detailed background. Action requires you to look at the combination of movement and anatomy. I'd say that a panel with such elements takes roughly twice as much time as a normal one.

Example:

I know that it is a page, but it does showcase the difference between panels. A simple panel takes about half an hour or an hour while a complex one takes twice as long or more.

The sketching and inking take up most of the time, like about 60 - 70%. Coloring takes somewhat less time.

Oh gosh, far too long.

Backgrounds - modeling/lighting: full workday say 12 hours, but then can render them out for each frame.
Each render: 25 minutes average.
Thumbnails: batch block 9-12 episodes at a time, 6 hours, have to let it rest to make them good though, add additional 3 days
Now down to the basics:
Sketch/Construction: 10 min.
Lines: 30 min (gaaaaaaaaaaaaahahaahahaaaaahhhhhurgh)
Flats: 5 min
Grayscale: 10 min
Color handling: 30 min
Forgetting stuff: 20 min
Lettering: 5 min
Sound Effects: 5 min
Background painting: 15 min

so like 2 ish hours per frame once all the prep is done when you get right down to it. I really want to knock some time off the lines, that's the toughest part for me.

We are a team of two working on the same comic!

One of us is sketching and penciling, and then we shift and do ink and coloring on each others page.
This is one big panel that is a spread, and is the one I am most proud of, just because it is so grand!

This is the rough stage: It took... 5 hours?

This is the pencil stage, before giving it over to my teammate. This took like a whole day 7 hours to do!

I think it took my workmate a whole day to ink it also.

This is from a recently uploaded page. I'm actually putting a bit more into the coloring now with shadowing and trying to be a bit more painterly to show dimension and lighting. These new pages haven't released yet but they're coming!

So for a single panel it's hard to break down because I draw the page as a whole. I sketch out the entire page. Then ink the entire page and then color. But if I were to make a general judgement this panel might take me about 1-1.5 hours to sketch. 2-4 more to ink. and then 1-2 more to color(it takes me a bit longer here now because I'm not doing flat coloring anymore)

why im "relatively proud"
i forced myself to show the 2 chara, standing near a landscape panorama, from a bird's-eye point of view.
to add more problems, the lift it is curved.
...and everything must fit a prospective view.

the pencil took me like 3 days.
ink 2 days.
i do not use color (good thing) ...but tones took me 1 days (like always).

it took like 5 or 6 times the 2nd panel, due also to the multi edit i was forced to do by pencil and PS in the editing...
and right now... still it s not perfect as i would.

when i am lucky with a page (like there s an easy scene / sequence) i spent like 3 days on it... but it doesnt happen often.

About the same? ^^; Once I have that establishing shot, I can copy and paste the background where needed.

All in all, the average time I need per panel is about 1 hour.

Edit: my colour process is a huge timesaver where I just FILL BUCKET my lines (1 layer for main image, 1 layer for bg) and then just shade the entire thing with a single multiply layer on top. This panel probably only has about 4-5 layers total.
