The biggest story that I have in my mind right now has been 3 years in the making and has evolved and changed multiple times. It started out as a doodle of random characters while I was bored in class. I just decided to create a story around them.
I've had stories that I thought up in high school that have since been abandoned because they were so cliche and cringy. But I've taken some of the character designs that I had for some of the characters and used them for the one that I'm writing now. The story I'm doing for Nanowrimo was literally birthed only a few days before I decided to participate at all.
These are novels by the way. Not comics. I'm not really good at doing comic art, illustration/cover art is more my thing.
do any novel writers find theirselves thinking of character designs/descriptions before they even have a story? Because that often happens with me.
