As a creator (series, cuz no shame =D2), a lot of people I subscribe to are for the social aspect of it. There's a lot of artists that have series running BUT also showcase a lot of their art.
Also, I might be biased towards people with lower sub counts (you know who you are). They tend to be more active, responsive, and generally fun people who engage in my work2 as well.
There's a ton of series here worth subscribing to that have thousands of subscribers (some that I have subbed to as well), but I will admit that there's some popular series I JUST don't bother subbing, mostly because they're easily accessible on the front page and featured list anyway. I'll even less likely comment on their episodes because, let's face it, we know when it's not gonna be read.
Yes, I tend to put a lot of popular series I subbed to on low priority and will someday binge all the latest updates, but for the active users still in the works of building a following that I enjoy, I'll put forth the effort to like and comment every new update, especially if it means pushing them up the "trending/popular" list.
I'm subbed to 460, and I read all of them, but I probably only stay up to date with about 85-90% of them. Some stories are better when you binge read them, after all ^.^ . As for the rest, probably about a third of them fall into the "completed, on hiatus, never update, one shot" category, so even though it's a big list, it feels manageable. I stay subscribed to completed stories so that if a creator launches a new series, I'll be notified. Every few months I go through my list and unsubscribe from stories, but I don't subscribe to stories in the first place if there isn't something about it that really intrigues me.
Hardly any of the ones I watch update really. So they have nothing new for me to read.
The ones that seem to be constant are the few gag strips I follow, and I usually ignore those because I have to be in a certain mood feel like reading that OR I already read it somewhere else cause those updates get posted everywhere, either by the artist or someone taking it and re-posting without the authors consent (very common issue for gag comics)
Most stuff I'm not 100% caught up with to the point of latest release, but that's because I like to binge so I wait until I've seen a few update notifications from them before I dive in and catch up.
I read all of the ones that update. I'm subbed to 240 but many of them are either completed or dropped. I'd guess maybe about 90 of them are updated on a monthly basis (since some update biweekly and others update once a month)....I used to not always read them but that's changed since a number of them completed/went on hiatus
I only have about 10 a day, sometimes less, to read so it's not a problem for me
I only subscribe to the ones I know I'll read.
Over 100 on my list, i look at content mostly (like how well written it is) the decide to sub or not.
For longer stories that have over 100 episodes, I tend to judge it by art because unless it has something unique, there is no way I'm going to sit and read 200 long pages. Thats not to say I ignore it completely. I still sub if the content is something I like, but i put it off for reading when i have time. Right now, out of all the series I'm subbed to, only 2 I have yet to read and both are long stories
I am currently subscribed to a little over 60 comics and I make it an effort to read all of them. As some have mentioned above, not every comic updates regularly, in fact several comics i'm subscribed to seem to have stalled in their regular update schedule, some haven't updated in a couple of months even. But generally if I am subbed to a particular comic, it is because I felt drawn to the story, whether it be down to like the art, story, writing and many times the complete package. I generally like a story with good cliffhangers. I do enjoy mental torture like that sometimes, especially when it comes to the comics I read xD!
i absolutely read all of them, and i wont subscribe to something unless im constantly reading it. i find myself reading all of the previous pages, regardless of how many pages that is, and then subbing if i see it is worth it. i'm a huge binge reader, but love having the anticipation of waiting for the next page to come out.
i have 58 on my list, and i get maybe a max of 5-7 comic updates a day. it is very manageable.
I have an embarrassingly small reading list and I still somehow manage to fall behind the comics I'm subscribed to. Not that bad, since I like to have more pages to read. Funny things is that since I'm so bad at keeping up with the few I've got on my list it makes me reluctant to subscribe to more , yet I DO have comics here that I haven't subscribed to but follow nevertheless.
I'm subbed to 23 (not all of which update consistently), so it's not that hard to keep up. My reading list is mostly made up of gag comics anyway with a few long-forms in between, so I manage to follow each of them. I read whichever catches my fancy, but I very rarely sub unless it's exceptionally entertaining.
I've subscribed to 120 comics (it's like: "Oh that episode is cool! Let's see the next... Better! Subscribed!"). There are some comics that I can't lost an update (my favorites), the others I try to follow, but it's a little hard when it updates too frequently. When it happens, I made a list with the comics I still need to read or re-read to remember the story (and know why I subscribed :P).
That's it, if I'm subscribed I always try to read all the episodes (the only problem is the time).
