I sort of missed it (I broke my elbow and was unable to write much for a long time) but I also didn't join it because of the weight Tapas put on subscribers and likes. It automatically put smaller, unknown authors at a disadvantage. A story should win because it's good, not because the author has an established presence on Tapas.

I feel this. Almost didn't try for it for this exact reason (subs/views/likes metrics). No matter how hard a new creator tries, they can miss out on getting new readers from attrition. To everyone who missed out on the AF Tourney, I hope you'll still submit stories for the community to read. Your hard work is greatly appreciated.

I was also reluctant to enter, but I did notice that they put much more stock into writing quality than I initially expected. Got no hopes for the second round, though. There's no definite way to gain votes.

To all of us who missed it for one reason or the other, my heart goes out to all of you. I missed it because tapas wasn't opening on my phone for some reason during that period. It was honestly discouraging and I was even rethinking making ALPHA SQUAD because my weekly update pattern was disrupted. But it doesn't matter why we couldn't participate, the time is coming when our stories that we took our time and a portion of ourselves to write will be recognized. That I know, is a FACT ️️️
