How much do you charge as a colorist?

So I'm highly interested in commissioning a colorist for my comic, Chaotic Nation, how much do you guys think is reasonable per page for a comic that is already toned, and really only needs some flat colors laid over it? Currently 350 pages long. Also does anyone have experience with a kickstarter and/or a gofundme project like this? Thanks guys!

I tend to base commission prices on hourly rates (I think most artists do this)
I think an hourly rate for an experienced artist is normally between $13 and $18, at the cheapest. That's the kind of rate I use when commissioning at least.
Depending on how long colouring takes it would be charged like that. If the artist can colour several pages in an hour then the price won't be massive per se.
Here's an example:
If it's 350 pages long, and the colourist is capable of getting the flat colours down for 10 pages an hour then you could find yourself paying roughly $455 altogether for the whole project. That's pretty reasonable since it would be an entire week's work on a full time basis.
It depends on the artist you go with though. Rates vary depending on the artist's needs and their experience.

Im thinking like $40-60 per page. Considering your only looking for flat colors on cleaned lineart and tones, I'm thinking around part time wage of coloring work. A typical turnover is a page a day so considering an 7-8 hour workday a page will put you in the price range.

I think for loose lineart and no tones the rate per hour would increase closer to industry price ranges, which I gander between 15 to high 20 per hour.

These are pretty conservative estimates but from a commissioner market, this might be what you'd negotiate for.

I appreciate the sample, but I'm mostly looking for a quote on prices at the moment. I have to raise enough money to pay someone first before anything.

That seems quite pricey considering I can color a page in less than an hour. x_x

At this point you're paying for occupying the artists time as a consultate. By adding tone you've done half of the colorists work anyway.

By coloring a page in an hour your basically expected a 7-8 page turnaround a day roughly... which is doable since your asking for flats only. Im still dtiking with a low wage since we're not talking about researching serious color theory.

So you've pretty much figured out your rate for youself. Around 8 bucks a page is what you value this at.

Maybe this is more what you're looking at.
