How much have your ocs' designs changed?

My characters look wayyy different now from when they were initially designed back in 2018-2019. Here are some side-by-side comparisons of their initial designs vs. their rework ones! Ah, fond memories, back when I had no idea how to draw (I still don't honestly)

I have no actually old drawings of my oc to show, but last year I did a redesign of him for a challenge: on the right, how he looked like when I created him, compared to how he looks like in the webcomic (on the left).
Basically short hair vs long, sash vs eyepatch, and tattoos on arms vs tattoos on hands. The shady smile remained the same.

Oh boy, old art cringe time. My art was super inconsistent before 2020–I'd basically draw one character in one style, and do the other in another style, etc. Just to see which one speaks to my heart the most.

(Still gotta redesign this creature tho)

To be honest I avoid character redesign like a plague? Unless I feel it's absolutely necessary, I try to not touch them at all, they just "grow" with my style. These are some guys that changed the most since 2007.

Also this one guy that became two in 2008, because sure why not.

Oh wow, I didn't realize Rekki was such an old OC of yours. That's got to feel great to take something that you've been rolling around in your head for decades and actually spin it up into a full-size project!

This is Savina's first art from 2017, before any of the Heaven Hunters universe was planned. I used to stream art on Twitch every day, so she was a character that I designed on stream because I didn't have a plan for that session.

Here's her current design. I simplified her design a ton, and boiled her down to her essential elements as much as I could, not just to make her more iconic, but also to simplify the process of drawing her for each panel. Most notably I dropped the tail and spell tattoos (mostly because I kept forgetting to draw them haha oops), and her face changed a lot during that process too. Also, her horns are no longer striped.

Here's Nira's first concept art, drawn a couple weeks later. The file is still named "Demon Friend1.jpg"

And here is her design from issue 3. Her ears and horn have changed over time, and I straightened her hair because it's a lot easier and quicker to draw.
