How regularly do you take hiatuses? How long are they usually?

I'm curious to know since it's different for everyone!

Most of my readers know now that I take hiatuses at the end of each chapter, and I've found that 1 month off is enough for me. (granted, my current hiatus has been longer because of life stuff rip) but I find that it hits a nice balance of me taking a break and people coming back to a story at a good point.

Each chapter varies around 40-70 pages, with each episode being around 15 to 30 panels. This is usually posted weekly/ every second week if I know I have other stuff on.

Like sure, I'd probably take less hiatuses if I had shorter updates, but I like the length of mine I want each episode/upload to be significant so that the time I am uploading, people feel the story is progressing significantly.

Sometimes weeks, sometimes months. Usually they're not even planned, I just either get distracted or am forced to focus on something else. I guess I'm technically on a hiatus right now, but I didn't intend to be. I was just trying to polish up the beginning by adding more images. It's taking a lot longer than expected.

I always try not to take hiatuses often. I need to at least post an illustration to compensate, haha.
However, there are times when I couldn't finish an episode in time, mainly due to difficult poses and angles.
So far, I only take hiatuses for 1 episode gap. I don't feel right if I have to take long hiatus. I really like to be on time, haha.

Planning on taking a 10 week hiatus on Tapas once we finish the season for large overhauls. I plan on holding people over with this filler arc where each episode is four panels long (I've been trying to train myself for that format).

I have a similar routine to what you are doing. Even if I have the pages available to post, I give myself a break with every chapter completion for a month though I'm usually itching to get back to work by day 7. I post single page updates twice a month(RIP engagement I know) so I've got a lot of wiggle room as far as time to work on my pages but I try to have an actual break once a chapter ends because I know I don't have a posting deadline creeping up on me for the next 30 days.
